President Uhuru Kenyatta has invited his political competitors to join hands with him and unite the country following an extended political period.
Addressing faithfuls when he attended a church service at Huruma Redeemed Gospel Church in Nairobi, Uhuru, who will take Oath of Office for his second term on Tuesday, said it was time for the country to heal from deep political divisions.
“To my competitors, we didn’t compete because of the language one speaks or the tribe where one comes from, it is about ideas and there must be a winner and a loser because we are a democracy,” he said.
“There is no need of disturbing Kenyans, they did their part, it is now our duty to sit and agree on what we should do to Kenyans.”
He said political differences should not stop Kenyans from co-existing with one another. “Let us work those differences without affecting the daily life of the people. Because what the people want is peace, security, jobs, health, good education and to know they can retire in their own nation regardless of where they come from. It is for us to argue the best way to achieve this but we don’t to disturb the citizen of this country.”
He was flanked by his deputy William Ruto, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and senator Johnstone Sakaja.
It is definitely worthwhile…
It is definitely worthwhile to state here on Mwakilishi. That the most courageous thing Raila can do at this point is to accept defeat and concede defeat. He should follow the lead of Democratic politicians all over the world such as Hillary Clinton,John Kerry,Al Gore etc who accepted defeat upon losing an election.Conceding Defeat is going to have a calming effect on NASA supporters.I know that it is not easy to accept defeat. However this would be the best thing for Raila and the opposition leaders(eg Orengo,Miguna,Magaya) to do at this point.Because it would enable NASA supporters to focus on nation building and away from electioneering. It appears to me that the current crop of ODM advisors(for example Miguna,Orengo,Magaya,Muthama,Khalwale etc) are trying to take Mr Raila on a fools errand.NASA leaders in Kenya, including Mr Raila, are definitely going to continue to be tripped up and snared by the web of lies that they continue to spin on their core supporters. But then again, let sleeping dogs lie.
If the energy RAO is using…
If the energy RAO is using to oppose Jubilee could be channeled into working together, wananchi would start “healing immediately. After all for those who believe in the GOOD BOOK,isn’t that what we are supposed to do?
Constantly disrupting the government is not the way to go.That has run its course. Nothing gets done, and as wananchi have seen nothing good comes from it.Time to try joining hands. Uhuru has already extended an olive branch.
