Suspected Al Shabaab militants on Wednesday killed three boda boda operators at Nyongoro in Witu, Lamu County. The three were allegedly killed after armed gunmen attacked a bus and a security vehicle heading to Kipini in Lamu from Malindi.
Sources said that unknown number of passengers boarding the bus and the security vehicle were seriously injured and were taken to Witu Sub County Hospital for treatment.
Newly appointed Operation Linda Boni Director Joseph Kanyiri while confirming the attack said he was yet to receive more details on the ambush.
Shabaab militants have wrecked-havoc in counties bordering Somalia in recent weeks.
The continued attacks prompted acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to issue a 3-month dusk to dawn curfew in Garissa, Lamu and Tana River counties as the government looks to stop the insurgence of the terrorist group.
