How Kenyan Professionals Can Apply for German Jobs
Berlin, Germany

Germany and Kenya have established the Comprehensive Agreement on Sharing of Labour, Talent and Mobility.

The agreement was signed in Berlin. This partnership aims to create employment opportunities for both skilled and semi-skilled Kenyan workers in the German market through controlled and targeted labour migration. In a recent Spice FM interview, Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu elaborated on the agreement’s significance. She highlights how the partnership addresses the complementary demographic needs of both nations, with Germany seeking to fill its labour market gaps.

Njogu directs prospective Kenyan workers to official German employment resources for detailed information about working opportunities. The agreement encompasses several crucial elements, including the recognition of Kenyan qualifications and certifications. A key initiative involves establishing partnerships between Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in both countries, facilitating collaborative learning, teaching, and exchange programs.

This approach aims to ensure seamless skill and technology transfer while providing Kenyans access to competitive wages and valuable international experience. Njogu emphasizes that proficiency in the German language would be essential for candidates to maximize these opportunities.Germany has committed to streamlining its immigration laws to facilitate easier entry for Kenyan workers into Europe’s largest economy. The implementation phase is poised to strengthen bilateral relations through enhanced people-to-people connections and mutual understanding between the two nations.

What distinguishes this agreement from previous labour arrangements is its focus on matching specific Kenyan talents to German labour market requirements, moving away from traditional quota-based systems. Njogu praises Kenya’s substantial, well-trained workforce and its potential to make meaningful contributions to the global labour market.
