Anthony Wambugu, a Nairobi-based entrepreneur who has studied abroad, is encouraging Kenyans to seize the opportunity presented by Canada being chosen as one of the host nations for the 2026 World Cup.

Wambugu suggests that Kenyans possess a favourable opportunity to secure a specialized visa in line with the 2026 World Cup for skilled labour. He emphasizes Kenya’s track record in producing dedicated professionals in event management, hospitality, and logistics, which enhances the likelihood of Canadian authorities seeking Kenyan workers. The demand for talent was demonstrated during the previous World Cup in Qatar, where many Kenyans were employed to manage logistics and provide hospitality services.

Abubaker Abbas, aka ‘The Metro Man,’ made a name for himself with his impressive talent in guiding attendees at the event and attained widespread recognition online. The organizers could not have been more grateful for his valuable input in running the transportation system seamlessly. As for future World Cup aspirants, Wambugu recommends thinking ahead and tapping into Canada’s extensive array of educational and job prospects.

One way to discover new places is by applying for a Canadian Visitor Visa or a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). To get one, applicants must first fill out a form online and supply proper documentation including a valid passport, photos, proof of finances and return plans, as well as a written invitation by a host in Canada when necessary. Credibility matters too, therefore, bank statements and employment verification correspondence can be requested.

Wambungu stresses the importance of health insurance, clear criminal history and evidence of connections to one’s homeland. Fulfilling these criteria not only boosts the applicant’s credibility but also improves the likelihood of a favourable Canadian Visitor Visa application outcome. These sentiments emerge in the context of a recent survey where Kenyans voiced a strong inclination to depart from their nation due to soaring unemployment rates and the exorbitant cost of living.

Distrust in the government’s ability to fulfil promises has also fueled the desire to emigrate. In a recent finding in June, some individuals admitted to considering a permanent change of residence. Europe is preferred over Saudi Arabia due to apprehensions about the mistreatment prevailing in the Gulf nation.
