US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that USCIS field offices as well as asylum offices and application support centers (ASCs) across the country will remain closed to the public until at least May 3rd, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
USCIS temporarily suspended in-person services on March 18 to help slow the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19) but employees in these offices continue “to perform mission-essential services that do not require face-to-face contact with the public.”
USCIS field offices sent notices to applicants who had upcoming appointments such as green card interviews and oath ceremonies, informing them that the appointments had been canceled and will be rescheduled once the offices open again to the public.
The offices will re-open on May 4th unless the public closures are extended further, says USCIS.
