An immigrant couple living in the United States could not hide their joy after they received green cards last week following a 25-year wait.
Adrian Carrillo and his wife Veronica, who hail from Mexico, received their permanent residence cards from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in the mail on Wednesday, July 7th, ending their 25-year wait.
Their 19-year-old son Alex, who was with them when they opened the mail at their home in Chandler, Arizona, recorded a video of his parents bursting with joy. They danced, cried and hugged.
The video went viral after Alex shared it on his Twitter account in a post where he hit out at “ignorant Trump supporters.”
For those ignorant trump supporters who say “why don’t they just come here legally” it took my parents 25 YEARS and THOUSANDS of dollars to finally become residents. Blessed to say my parents dreams finally became true ???? pic.twitter.com/uvL3e1OOPB

“For those ignorant Trump supporters who say “why don’t they just come here legally,” it took my parents 25 YEARS and THOUSANDS of dollars to finally become residents. Blessed to say my parents’ dreams finally became true,” Alex wrote.
His video was widely shared and liked on social media, garnering more than seven million views in three days.
“I posted it to inform and motivate people who are in the [immigration] process to not give up, and for other people to see that the process takes long,” Alex, a US-born citizen, told el Nuevo Herald.
He later shared two videos of his parents visiting Mexico and a series of tweets bashing “inhumane” Trump supporters.
A green card gives an immigrant the right to live permanently in the US, the right to work at any legal workplace and protection under all local, state and federal US laws.
