Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has asked Google to pull down a new song released by Kenyan music group Ethic.
Taking to social media, Mutua, also referred to as ‘Kenyan moral cop’, claimed that Ethic’s new hit dubbed ‘Tarimbo’ promotes violence against women.
At the same time, Mutua called on Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to arrest members of the controversial entertainment group, saying they had crossed the line.
“I have spoken to Google to take down the song Tarimbo by Ethic Entertainment which advocates for the rape of women. Promoting violence against women is criminal,” stated Mutua.
He added: “The DCI should arrest them, under Article 33, for going beyond the prescribed delimitations on freedom of expression by advocating for violence against women.”
Mutua said ‘Tarimbo’ was similar to the controversial song ‘Wamlambez’ by Sailor’s Gang, which was banned a few months ago.
“When we banned Wamlambez people slammed us for thwarting creativity. I asked the group if they could shout the phrase before their mothers and they blatantly agreed, baffling me.”
“These so-called musicians and performers have defied everything decent societies hold dear. They have thrown morality to the four winds in the name of money and popularity,”
“My interpretation of Wamlambez and Tarimbo is that these are not artists. They are demented circus thugs hiding behind the art to promote indecency. Any self-respecting DJ should not play these songs. No club should allow music that advocates for violence against women.”
“Unless decent people rise against the wave of immorality in Kenya, we are going to lose a generation in the name of creative freedom. No freedom is absolute. This time round we must draw the line!” Mutua concluded.
Nilikua sijui huu wimbo sasa…

No way any normal,descent…
No way any normal,descent,well-brought-up,respecting,and law abiding person(man) would rape awoman because a song ecourages,or says they should. I dont know what they lyrics of “Tarimbo” are.And can acrazy person listening to “tarimbo” lyrics commit rape?I dont know, just as much as a”moral” song wound encourage someone to do good… if not doing good yet.
As I have said before, our morals are challenged daily, and some changing so fast. And its only fear or the LAW not God that will discourage people from committing crimes,or harming others. Most people dont fear God’s punishment, but they fear the LAW’s punishment when implemented and applied.
SO if these” tarimbo artists” are breaking the law, Mutua does not have to hollow and cry.Simply call the REAL cops, and have the tarimbos eat some half cooked beans.
Better yet, have the” descent people” artists come up with songs what will counter”tarimbo”,and encourage good morals.FOr reach”Tarimbo”song, there should be 4 “moral songs”.Majority wins…right?
These are trend setters and…
These are trend setters and the habits and behavior they promote will be taken up by some who are not normal, descent or any of the other positive human qualities.
