Top US Gospel Singer Stranded at Moi International Airport in Mombasa

Top US gospel musician and Christian minister Donnie McClurkin got stranded at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa for a couple hours on Tuesday morning.

In a statement on his social median account, McClurkin, who is in the country on a ministerial mission, said the organizers of the event failed to turn up at the airport to pick him up. He however declined to mention the name of his promoter or Kenyan host(s).

“I landed in Mombasa, Kenya at 12:53am Tuesday, and no one is here for me and my sister from the ministry! (We’ve been) approached by a few illegal guys driving their own cars, trying to take our own luggage cart to their car. It has been almost an hour and I’m outside (the airport waiting lounge) in Mombasa. There are no taxis or transportation at 2am in the morning. Two percent battery life left on my phone, and no plugs! Please pray,” wrote Mr McClurkin on Instagram.

He was able to later book himself a room in one of the top hotels in the city.

  1. The entitled American. Why…
The entitled American. Why didn’t he carry chargers and universal chargers not the American chargers and google for a hotel and get yourself a cab . Mombasa airport is better than most of those caribbean airports that most Americans especially black Americans visit and the hustlers are worse especially if you are in a spanish speaking island . He just wants to throw shade on Kenya . Ati stranded , sensational journalism!

    • I think you didn’t really…
I think you didn’t really understand the issue at hand. Says whoever was supposed to pick him at the airport didn’t show up. In all probability, there must have been someone with whom he had made arrangements, at least for pickup at the airport. Further, some things come with experience and not everyone is smart enough to know about universal chargers. Heck, he could hv forgotten too. Be easy on him, priss.

I understood perfectly and if you travel, expect the unexpected, seems he is not well traveled, doesn’t have risk management skill aka be prepared at all times when traveling in a foreign country, do your research before hand on your destination whether you have people picking you up or not. Simple steps while traveling even travelocity or orbitz gives you these tips. Mlachake you try to get personal with me saa ingine. Maybe am a resourceful person but I would never be stranded at sn airport in this day and age unless Im dumb or ignorant! He obviously was biased being in a third world country / city !

I thought Id read how the wild animals were about to swallow him whole kwasababu he is so dramatic.vile amekaa I doubt he is on a “ministerial mission” or he’s come to fleece gullible christians. Then he sleeps in a major hotel. His “ministry” should have started with those hes calling sijui illegal people in their own country. He is the one who is illegal asituletee.?

Haiya why did you not charge your phone on the flight ama you came with a mtumba airline.Furthermore universal chargers are available at most duty free shops.

  3. “Almost an hour” wacha…
“Almost an hour” wacha maringo. You want to say you have never waited for more than an hour anywhere in USA. Carry your own portable charger power-battery

  4. I think I am with Mlachake…
I think I am with Mlachake on this one. Clearly he expected to be picked up by his hosts who did not have the courtesy of doing so or even making contingency plans for him. He was acting on good faith and for that I can’t fault him. He did, after all book himself in a top hotel we are told. I really don’t think this is about being a third world versus US, could easily have been any airport in the world where the poor guy had no one else to turn to. Like Mlachake says, easy on the man.

Maybe I’m jaded and stopped believing in good ol’ innocent humans.?. Good to see there is benefit of a doubt humans still in existence ???

Spiritual racketeerer. Don’t understand why people need a middleman to communicate with God. Follow the commandments and keep your money in your pocket. Hiyo ingine yote ni ujinga.

Right now I am writing from Chicago. As I said earlier write about things you know not what you read in newspapers or hear from politicians.

    • I think Mhalisi didn’t mean…
I think Mhalisi didn’t mean the cul de sac neighborhoods of Chicago! I’m sure the gang neighborhoods as seen in PBS or NatGeo exist and I’m sure you are not writing in those hoods where even kids can no longer play at the local park, yes part of Chi-town gang invested is like Syria. Same with S.E DC can’t catch me dead zurularing that side if tow

      • Well he said drive downtown…
Well he said drive downtown Chicago at 2am. I always drive downtown late at night and I don’t see what he is talking about. That’s why I say he is talking from a point ignorance. I don’t deny there are dangerous places in Chi-town but he makes it sound as if the whole place is a hell.

  9. At Formerlyguest2 & Mhalisi…
At Formerlyguest2 & Mhalisi….gosh the picture you paint of US. Is it really that hood? And I was thinking of coming knocking over there! Mind you, we have some areas this part of the world, where knifing is the order of the day, so I guess it’s a reflection of today’s world, ama I have my big head buried deep in the sand?!

    • C’om Sukari , no one is…
C’om Sukari , no one is saying there are no good parts of America, oh they are in aplenty, many many of them but not everyone lives in Beverly hills neighborhood 🙂 I’m just being real , not everything glitters in USA as much as the TV soap opera would like to lie. US is not bad , I love it hence I live here but just like Nairobi , there are some who feel safe in Mountainview and others who would not found mangamangaring in Korogocho at midnight.
