Norwich police have launched an investigation into a distressing incident that unfolded on December 10, 2023, resulting in the untimely death of Mr Amos Ndemo within the confines of HM Prison in Norwich, Norfolk, England.
The facility, overseen by His Majesty’s Prison Service, caters to adult and juvenile males. Reports from international media outlets on December 22, 2023, shed light on an inquest conducted in Norwich, where the circumstances surrounding Mr Ndemo’s death were disclosed. The Prisons and Probation Service Ombudsman is actively preparing a comprehensive report on the incident, as the exact cause of Mr Ndemo’s demise remains undisclosed.
Samantha Goward, the Area coroner, has officially confirmed the identity of the deceased through close associate David Byaombe. Additionally, Ms Goward notes that Mr Ndemo had a history of interactions with the region’s mental health services, with the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust set to compile a comprehensive report for the inquest. The hearing, chaired by Ms Goward, concludes with a pre-inquest review hearing scheduled for June 28, 2023. The official cause of Mr. Ndemo’s death has been determined as hanging.

Ms Loverine Kimaiga, his cousin, expresses disbelief and laments the consequences of Ndemo’s decision to relocate to England. Trizah Nyaboke has also paid her tribute, wishing him peace in the afterlife and acknowledging the significant void he leaves within their family.
“Amos my cousin, my brother, our hero I cannot believe that you are no more. Why did you make the decision of leaving Kenya for England and now your death has left your family in dilemma?” Ms Kimaiga poses.
