The Kenya Fencing Federation has responded to Alexandra Ndolo, a fencer originally from Germany, criticizing her unreasonable demands and negative attitude in her runup to the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
The federation president Fred Chege has leveled accusations against Ndolo for making excessive demands which they have been unable to fulfil owing to multiple issues. Chege asserts that the World Cup contests act as qualifiers for the Olympics and that every fencer must take part in no fewer than six of these. Ndolo, Africa’s top-ranked fencer, is already confirmed for the Paris event and is mindful of this information.
The federation has tried to convince her to only participate in necessary events considering their financial limitations, but the athlete has turned down their proposal. Ndolo vented frustration on her Instagram page after the federation didn’t register her for the first 2023/24 World Cup Series in Italy. The president indicates they’ve exceeded themselves catering to the athlete’s expectations. However, Ndolo’s sullen conduct poses an obstacle to reaching an agreement.
According to Chege, she previously informed Ndolo that the federation did not possess financial capabilities matching those found in Germany and that the Ministry of Sports was also underfunded. He discloses that the federation served Ndolo three plane tickets which she declined, claiming they were too late. Thereafter, they attempted to communicate with her to discuss accommodation solutions but she refused to engage.
The head of the federation emphasizes the importance of the upcoming Africa Olympics qualifiers in Algiers, Algeria. However, While this seems to be the priority, Ndolo is not convinced that Chege is well-versed in the Olympic fencing eligibility criteria. Ndolo, whose parents originate from Kenya and Poland, clinched silver medals in both the 2017 World Cup and at the recent World Fencing Championships held in Cairo, Egypt.
We only have one athlete in…
We only have one athlete in fencing, and the situation appears horrible. What if we had six athletes qualifying for fencing?
On one hand when our athletes perform poorly against international athletes, the cry is usually that we need more international exposure. Here we have ndolo getting her events cut short…Go figure.
People who run our sports tell us that we need to expand into other events, since we are well represented in running.Well, here is an opportunity.I guess talk is cheap.
Does the name “Ndolo”…
Does the name “Ndolo” besides being a Kamba name stand for “matope” in the Kikuyu language? This woman expects German privilege and is probably treated like a second class citizen in Germany. Besides, fencing is not even a sport worth mentioning in Kenya. kumbafu.
What sport do you play …
What sport do you play @Onyango?? Wewe mavi ya Kuku! Bitchy huko chini wewe Shetani! Only a luo would cut down others for their successes! Get a life you Fickle dick!
@Jane. It is very obvious…
@Jane. It is very obvious you cannot see the sense of entitlement in this woman but then again I would not expect you to read between the lines if you attack someone instead of interrogating their comment.
Her parents are from Kenya…
Her parents are from Kenya and Poland and she is, originally from Germany .Ok if she was born in Germany let her keep her ass over there and represent them. This is like the situation in France where all the star players are African yet they are French citizens In Kenya we are still using spears to hunt we have yet to evolve to fencing ?.Furthermore for a sport to be financially viable it needs to be popular among the masses .How many Kenyans realistically speaking will pay to see this half watermelon ruka ruka all over the place holding a sword even if she is the African champion.Invest in sports where the masses can relate leave the Europeans to play around with swords
Wrong. You need to watch the…
Wrong. You need to watch the movie, Cool Running. A first Jamaican bobsled team. Enough said.
@ Guest, what sports did…
@ Guest, what sports did africans invent? They are not even good at throwing spears and arrows…Probably decent at stone throwing.Even if “Panga fighting” was introduced as a sport,Kenyans would fair poorly, going by their results in boxing.
I am glad laws are not made by minds like yours. When Obama who is also mixed was running for USA presidency, many Kenyans embraced him as “their own”. Was that sentiment misplaced? Sure there are some who ignorantly thought that he would now pour baskets of goodies in to Kenya;and the lake region in particular.Nonetheless,at that time he was claimed my many as “ours”.Ndolo is ours.
I hope she’s going to …
I hope she’s going to ‘loudly’ split her endorsement money from Germany with the Kenyan fencing federation for the sake of promoting the game.
She could have played pro in…
She could have played pro in Euro and retire in Kenya village if she cares for her sport. Kenyan officials don’t cater right for own athletes overseas. Officials are there to earn millions in allowances
