Elsa Kiprotich: From Charcoal Seller to Real Estate Agent in the US

Elsa Kiprotich, a resident of Houston, Texas, recently shared her inspiring story of going from a charcoal seller in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County to a successful real estate agent in the United States.

In a recent interview with Chams Media TV, she recalled her modest upbringing in Eldoret and how her family put in a lot of effort to provide her with an education from primary school to university. After graduating from Kenya Methodist University in 2011 with a degree in Business Management, Kiprotich resorted to selling charcoal to make a living and eventually expanded her services to include hotel deliveries within the town.

This experience granted her competencies that have proved useful for her. A year later, she was awarded an academic scholarship to pursue her Master’s in Business Administration at the University of West Georgia in the United States. Upon completing her studies, Kiprotich began selling life insurance to military servicemen in Georgia and it was through this job that she met her husband.

With a tenure of over six years in the real estate industry, Kiprotich expertly caters to diverse residential and commercial property needs. She acknowledges that the progress seems tough owing to the fluctuating nature of the market, however, she identifies her prime goal as finding the right property for her clients. Most of her clients are Kenyans living in Houston. Kiprotich has accomplished the challenging feat of resettling over 100 families in the state.

“I have learned to appreciate what life brings whether small like creating and maintaining new friendships with strangers to greater things like being part of a military family and having to experience what true sacrifice is having my own husband serve in the military,” she said.
