The Bottles of Whisky Containing Cocaine

Two Kenyan women have been apprehended by Delhi Customs officers in India for attempting to smuggle in cocaine worth Sh510 million.

On Thursday, the authorities declared that they had arrested an unnamed woman, who came to India from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and attempted to smuggle cocaine inside whisky bottles. The Kenyan woman had attempted to smuggle 253.7 grammes of cocaine inside three bottles of whisky. Customs officials at Delhi airport reported that the cocaine confiscated was worth Sh380 million.

The suspect was detained for breaching the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which authorizes the government to tackle the misuse and illegal trading of narcotic drugs. On Monday, another Kenyan was apprehended at the same airport with two bottles of whisky containing dissolved cocaine worth Sh 130 million. The details of the 25-year-old are yet to be released.

“Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Central Government shall take all such measures as it may deem necessary or expedient to prevent and combat the abuse of and illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances,” reads part of the NDPS Act.

Also on Wednesday, Indian officials announced that they had confiscated methamphetamine from a Tanzanian national that had travelled from Uganda via Dubai. The drugs were concealed inside 100 capsules that the suspect had swallowed. These incidents come at a time when Delhi Customs officials are committed to impeding the smuggling of drugs via their routes to diverse locations.

  1. Drug trafficking used to be…
Drug trafficking used to be a male dominated crime. Not any more.Kenyan women seem to have surpassed Naijas in this illegal drug trade.
What happened to the gentler, softer, kinder, and pretty- beautiful girls?Or was that just a smoke screen to hoodwink men?
Anyway, these two women will have to share the FEMME FATALE award of the month.A rare occurance, nonetheless a disturbing one.
You couple this with women in Kenya drugging men in bars, and other places, then you wonder if should this trend continues what will happen to the next generation. Again as I always ask,if mama na baba are all in prison, who will inculcate good behavior in the kids, especially, when gone are the days when it took a village to raise a child?
If there is was on demand for consumption of these drugs, there would not be demand for supply. So we should probably try to tackle this menace from the demand side.Easier said than done, ofcourse.Otherwise it would already have been done, given the damage these drugs negatively impact society.Any suggestion?

  2. Drug mules. There is one…
Drug mules. There is one thing I can bet, the Kenyan woman in question will be fluent in Hindi by the time she is released from prison. Her Kenyan accent might also change to a point where she will be sounding like Narendra Modi.

  3. What happened to the Kenyan…
What happened to the Kenyan mamas with greed for money? The two will rot in the Indian jail for a long time. Let them enjoy the orange suits.
