Kenyan Man Killed in a Building Collapse in Doha, Qatar

A Kenyan family is mourning the tragic death of their kin who worked in Qatar.

Rodgers Indako, who hailed from Lugari, Kakamega County, died after the four-storeyed building he was living in in Al Mansoura, Doha, collapsed on Wednesday last week, according to his family.

His parents Adrian Inziani and Eunice Seru said their son has been working in the Middle East state for four years before the tragedy struck.

The parents said they last spoke with their son last week when they discussed plans for him to send money for his child’s school fees.

“We first got a report that the building where he was living had collapsed on Wednesday last week, but were not told about our son’s state. We tried to contact the embassy on both sides but were unsuccessful. It is only days later on Saturday that we were told that he did not make it,” Inziani said.

The deceased’s widow Linet Museni said her husband was supposed to travel to Kenya in June to visit the family.

“What has happened is unfortunate. My husband left the country in search of greener pastures to be able to take care of me and our children and he was supposed to come back in June but now he will be coming back as a corpse. It’s extremely painful,” she said.

The family is appealing to the government to intervene and help repatriate the body to Kenya for burial.

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior said preliminary investigations indicated that maintenance work was ongoing in the building at the time of the collapse.

Reports indicate that at least nine people were killed in the collapse while several others were rescued from the rubble.

This are the living conditions in Qatar for people working for them.
The only thing they show is the flashy side. WTF is Mutua doing? Address this issue.
