Kenyan Family Pleads for Help as Kin is Held Captive in Saudi Arabia

The family of a 27-year-old Kenyan woman who is reportedly held captive in Saudi Arabia is appealing for help to bring her back home.

Lear Salima Tsuma is being held against her will by her Saudi Arabia employer after she reportedly fell ill and was unable to continue working as a house help, according to her sister Herina Maku.

The family says the employer is demanding a refund of the Sh300,000 he spent to facilitate her travel to the Middle East nation on July 6th this year to work as a housemaid on a two-year contract.

“Upon her arrival at her employer’s house, she fell ill after two weeks due to being overworked and lack of food. Since she is unable to work they have decided to hold her captive as a way of punishing her until they get a refund of the money they had used to facilitate her travel for a two-year contract that she and the employers had agreed on,” her sister told K24 Digital.

“We are worried we haven’t heard anything from her for the past two weeks our fear is she may die in a foreign land. She is being starved and whenever she cries for help she gets a beating. We now appeal to government agencies to intervene and bring her back home alive.”

When the family reported the matter at Likoni police station in Mombasa under OB number 10/31/07/22, officers advised them to seek help from non-governmental organizations saying their hands were tied.

The family says efforts to reach her employer and a Mombasa-based recruitment agency that facilitated her travel to the Gulf state were futile.

“Upon her arrival before she bought a sim card for Saudi Arabia, she used to communicate to us using her employer’s number, however, after several attempts to reach out to her, and enquire about her whereabouts she blocked us without saying a word,” Herina added.

They are pleading with the government and well-wishers to come to Lear’s rescue before she dies from starvation and ill health.

  1. It may come as ashock to…
It may come as ashock to some, but to others not.All these mistreatment of black people, especially women, is sanctioned in the Muslim’s holy book, the Koran. Islam expressly allows beating of women. Not only that, their prophet Muhammad traded in black african slaves, and also have a few for sexual pleasure. And yes he is supposed to be the model of upright and moral behavior for man kind according to muslims,go figure…,despite marrying a six year old girl…
Of course muslim apologists will deny this, and try to put a saintly spin to it.Why do I mention this? Well its obvious. Do you really expect the Arabs to treat their
modern black slaves any different from how they treated them in the 15th century? To Muhammad anything black was”evil…” If you dont believe me, just do alittle research on the prophet, and you will be shocked…
I hope that the new regime will address this matter of our sisters suffering in the Arab world. This regime that is ending apparently sent some delegates to find a solution.Been a year not aword of what they found out.Yes petro- dollar greased their palms, and sealed their lips.

  2. Next week it will be another…
Next week it will be another story just like this one. The week after we will be asked to raise funds for repatriating the body of another female back to Kenya. In the meantime, Ruto said that Uhuru and Ferdinand Waititu are planning to nyonga him tomorrow morning.

  3. No amount of warnings,…
No amount of warnings, reports of slavery, torture nor deaths will deter some Kenyans from risking their lives!

People need to understand that when you ignore the warnings, you travel at your own peril.

    • Before the discovery of oil…
Before the discovery of oil,or rather before Mzungu discovered oil in the arab deserts, there wasn’t much you could write home about.Mundane life revolved around tending to camels, goats, and chasing away pigs. With too much time on their hands, marring many wives was just about the only entertainment, and pass time. They cleaned their own houses, swiping away sand blow by monsoon fury. And harvested afew dry rasins, dates, gloves, and coconut.Life was good. They drunk camel urine for medicinal purposes as prescribed in their holy book the Koran. Life was simple and good.Nobody was interested in visiting the deserts, and they were happy not to let any one in,much less christians with their kaffir religion. Then the oil happened, and every thing changed.
My wish is for the world to come up with cheap alternative energy that would impoverish the arabs to the extend that they would be slaves in other countries.May be, just may be that would humble them.
