Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday arrived in London for a three-day tour of the United Kingdom.
Ruto, who just concluded his week-long tour of the United States, was received in London by Kenya’s Ambassador to the UK Manoah Esipisu.
While in the UK, the deputy president is expected to meet senior British government officials, visit the National Counter-Terrorism Center, and speak at both the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House).
He is also scheduled to engage Kenyans living and working in the UK as well as pay a courtesy call on the Archbishop of Canterbury His Grace Justin Welby, according to his presidential campaign secretariat.
Ruto, who is eyeing the presidency in the forthcoming elections, left the country on February 27th for a 10-day international tour in the US and the UK.
His campaign team said the tour followed invites from senior government officials and top policy institutes in Washington and London.
While in the US, Ruto and his entourage met with the governor of Nebraska Pete Ricketts, US Assistant Secretary of State for Africa Molly Phee, and spoke at Karson Institute for Race, Peace, and Justice at Loyola University in Maryland.
He also met a group of Kenyans living in the US at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Maryland, where he pledged to put up proper structures to address issues affecting Kenyans abroad if elected president.
Ruto is accompanied by several leaders including ANC leader Musalia Midavadi and Governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Josphat Nanok (Turkana), and Salim Mvurya (Kwale).
Others are Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and MPs Alice Wahome (Kandara), Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu), and Aden Duale (Garissa Township).
