A young Kenyan man was recently found dead in his apartment in Joplin, Missouri.
The decomposing body of Christopher Njuguna Mungai was discovered in his apartment. The medical examiner said Njuguna had been deceased for about one week when his body was found.
The Kenyan community in the US is seeking to raise $20,000 to ship his remains to Kenya for burial.
Njuguna has no immediate family in the US and his family in Kenya is distressed, with no answers as to what happened,
“Without the funds, this cannot happen and Chris would have to be buried in a foreign land by the local government against his family’s wishes, culture, and traditions,” the organizers of the fundraiser said.

SULUHISHO:
Popote tulipo, tujitahidi kuyafanya maisha tulikotoka yawe bora kuliko mahali tulipohamia.

Waswahili husema, “SIKU ZA…
Waswahili husema, “SIKU ZA MWIZI AROBAINI:
The noose is tightening on the neck of William Ruto with pointers he might land in the dock over various crimes at International Criminal Court and locally if the ongoing probes on his allies’ underhand deals implicate him in the multi-billion shillings scandals.
Weekly Citizen has established that, for years, Uhuru Kenyatta has shielded various state agencies from summoning Ruto to shed light in various cases suspects have linked his name to but now the head of state, after being pushed to the wall by UDA allies, has said enough is enough. Uhuru has reportedly said that he will not block arrest of his deputy if any tangible evidence against him to face criminal charges can be sustained in court. The same is with ICC if it comes calling.
Uhuru wants to leave a legacy that no one is above the law. The recent arrest of two High Court judges Aggrey Muchelule and Said Chitembwe are signals things ahead are not good for those who think they are untouchables.
Highly placed sources revealed that panic has gripped the hustler movement after it dawned on them that detectives unraveling how Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua got over Sh12.5 billion are establishing whether Ruto was the beneficiary of the large heist. Rigathi was hiding behind politics to stop prosecution.
The detectives from the Serious Crime Investigations Unit are unraveling how Sh12.5 billion siphoned by Gachagua from state agencies evaporated into thin air with only Sh200 million being traced in a local bank.
They are doing money trail to establish whether the heist landed in Ruto’s accounts in and outside the country.
Already, the deputy president has read mischief in Gachagua’s arrest, averring the problems facing his foot-soldier are politically motivated.
Taking to Twitter, the second-in-command asserted that the persecution of his friends ‘will soon end’, possibly referring to the 2022 general election, which will mark the end of Jubilee’s two-term tenure.
“They have connections, networks, pedigree & godfathers BUT we have GOD our Father,” Ruto tweeted.
He added: “This persecution on account of our friendship & political beliefs will come to an end.”
His statement came hours after Gachagua was apprehended at his Nyeri home by a Directorate of Criminal Investigations team of at least 20 officers.
At ICC, lawyer Paul Gicheru is facing charges at the Hague being accused to head a team that compromised witnesses against Ruto and radio journalist Joshua Sang. Reports indicate, the lawyer was funded by the DP handlers further complicating matters for him.
His arrest sparked online and offline protests, with his supporters taking to the streets for raucous picketing. Speaking to the media on his way to the DCI headquarters, the MP accused the state of waging war against him because of his devotion to the deputy president.
He claimed he was arrested for embarrassing Uhuru during the recently concluded Kiambaa by-election, in which the president’s party lost the race to the Ruto-affiliated UDA.
The deputy president is worried that apart from Gachagua, former Treasury cabinet secretary Henry Rotich is naming Ruto in Sh21 billion theft of money in the Kimwarer and Arrow dams scandal.
But it is Gachagua’s arrest that has sent alarm bells ringing in Ruto’s camp that he could be next in the dock. The detectives have completed investigating how the MP registered 49 companies and used them to trade with various government agencies in an intricate web that saw him win tenders worth more than Sh12 billion and the next stage is to establish the money trail.
Gachagua used to drop the DP’s name to win the said tenders and even parastatal bosses could engage the DP on the MP mobile phone to award the said tenders. Gachagua used companies he owned and those of family members, close friends and proxies.
Some of the companies had youths as directors, who after receiving payments for tenders reserved for the youth and women would transfer the money directly to accounts of companies owned by the MP.
Most of the money transfers ended up in a company known as Wamunyoro Investments Limited that is jointly owned by Gachagua and his wife, Dorcas Wanjiku.
The companies he used to get money from county or national governments included Encater Diagnostics Ltd that received Sh123 million, Technical Supplies and Services (K) (Sh220 million), Skytop Agencies (Sh20 million), Riang International Group Limited (Sh7 million), Machine Centre Ltd (Sh67 million), Jenne Enterprises (Sh79 million) and Rapid Medical Supplies Ltd (Sh9 million), among others.
Gachagua was also paid more than Sh668 million from the National Irrigation Board, Sh502 million from the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project, Sh339 million from the Ministry of Lands and Housing, Sh195 million from the Directorate of Personnel Management MLG Kenya Municipal Programme, Sh171 million from the State Department for Water, Sh143 million (Lake Victoria Environment Management Project II), Sh136 million (State Department for Irrigation) and Sh105 million from the ministry of Environment.
In total, the MP received more than Sh12.5 billion through three accounts in Rafiki Finance Bank, in seven years, payments believed to be proceeds of corruption.
The detectives are also unraveling why there were no bank statements though Gachagua withdrew a total of Sh5.1 billion from the fixed deposit account.
At one time, Gachagua’s savings accounts had a balance of Sh773, 228 after receiving Sh5.8 billion and a fixed deposit account was left with Sh35 million after receiving about Sh877 million and they are now trying to establish whether the money was wired to Ruto and the records erased.
Those who recorded statements to shed light on why they received millions of shillings from Gachagua included former cabinet secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, Meru senator Mithika Linturi, Laikipia senator John Nderitu and Ruguru MCA in Nyeri county, Erastus Karanja.
Curiously, all are allies of the deputy president giving credence to assertions that Ruto directed the MP to pay them for supporting him.
The sources added that the political terrain will take dramatic shift once the Court of Appeal delivers its verdict on the constitutionality or unconstitutionality of the Building Bridges Initiative on August 20.
Whether the seven-man bench overturns or upholds the High Court ruling declaring BBI illegal, there are signals Ruto will be charged with criminal offences.
There are reports a decision has been made for the second in command to answer to criminal charges on several counts that include grabbing of public land, money laundering, obtaining goods with false pretence, illegal arms deals and being an accomplice on several murders of Kenyans.
On the last count, detectives are tying pieces to establish whether Ruto, directly or indirectly, had knowledge of at least three mysterious deaths of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei, Cynthia Mwikali then aged 27 and Jacob Juma.
Though at the moment a decision has not been made whether to charge or drop the investigations, the sleuths working on the cases are trying to establish circumstances under which the three met their death.
For security personnel Kenei, who was attached to the deputy president’s Harambee Annex office, they are trying to unravel whether his killing was to cover up the Rashid Echesa’s fake gun scandal. It is to be recalled that Kenei’s body was found a few days after he had been expected to record a statement with police on the fake arms scandal that was being executed in the DP’s office.
The detectives are also tying the pieces to establish how Cynthia Mwikali, who was working at the DP’s residence as a maid, met her death, with the body being discovered in a thicket in Taita Taveta. The sleuths are also burning the midnight oil trying to unravel how Jacob Juma was killed.
They are trying to establish whether assertions by former Kakamega senator, Bony Khalwale, now an ally of the DP, that Ruto had a hand in the killing Juma had any basis or were mere political statements to whip up public emotions.
But it is on allegations of corruption that Ruto is likely to meet his waterloo that might see him drop out of the presidential race in 2022 general elections.
The insiders revealed that the investigative agencies had concluded Ruto’s charges on corruption but Uhuru had been ordering them to go slow, preferring to first gauge public mood before acting. With the recent arrest and jailing of former South African president Jacob Zuma, to Uhuru, Ruto is not untouchable if necessary state security measures are put in motion.
In the president’s thinking, it is highly unlikely that a situation like that in South Africa where riots occurred after Zuma was jailed will happen in Nairobi.
By charging Ruto, it will not be the first time he will be in the dock, having been in the corridors of justice to answer criminal charges over Kenya Pipeline Sh290 million land scandal where he was charged alongside former president Daniel arap Moi’s aide, Joshua Kulei.
Ruto also faced a civil case at the High Court where he was ordered to pay Adrian Muteshi (deceased) Sh5 million and vacate the 100 acres land in Turbo, Uasin Gichu county.
He also faced crimes against humanity charges at The Hague-based ICC where his case collapsed amidst allegations of bribing or killing key witnesses.
Insiders revealed that detectives are keenly following the proceedings at the High Court where Kenya Civil Aviation Authority is seeking to repossess the land where Ruto’s Weston Hotel stands.
But Ruto on sensing danger that the case might be used to fix him has been employing delaying tactics to have it concluded after the August 9 2022 general elections, hoping he will be the president at the time.
But detectives are gathering evidence on how Ruto grabbed the Weston Hotel land and coerced the Kenya Commercial Bank to advance his company a Sh1.2 billion loan.
If a decision is made to charge him, he will be in the dock together with his lawyer Adil Khawaja, a former chairman of KCB Group who was his linkman in the illegal deal.
Insiders added that detectives are also looking into the multibillion shillings Kimwarer and Arrow dams’ scandal where Ruto is suspected of having received over Sh4 billion
Already, they have evidence of how officials of an Italian firm, Co-operativa Muratoi Cementisti Di Ravenna met Ruto’s ally, David Muge who forwarded Sh2 billion.
The detectives are also unearthing another scandal at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital where Sh29 billion would have been lost, if Ruto had his way.
They are relying on the testimony of Nairobi businessperson, Hebert Ojwang who linked Ruto to the controversial Sh28 billion theft at the facility. Ojwang’s testimony will form the basis of charging Ruto with attempted theft.
The detectives are also trying to establish claims Ruto engaged in money laundering and could be hiding looted funds in Sudan and Uganda.
They are trying to establish if the deputy president has accounts in Sudan and Uganda, where he hides illicit funds. Ruto is a regular visitor in the two countries.
They are also trying to establish how Ruto got to own land where Dolphin Resort Beach Hotel, which has even encroached on public beach in Shanzu, Mombasa county, stands.
