Diaspora Lobby Wants Release of Final BBI Report Suspended

Commonwealth Voter Privileges Right Association, a lobby of Kenyans living in the diaspora has called for a delay in the release of a final report by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce.

The lobby in a petition to the BBI team said the report should not be released until there is a consensus among Kenyans to amend the 2010 constitution through a referendum.

The BBI team led by its chair Senator Yusuf Haji is expected to submit the final report to President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The association argues that some groups including elected leaders were not given the chance to participate in the process.

“It would be necessary to allow debate on all the issues that arose during the Building Bridges Initiative public meetings before coming up with a conclusive report of what the public wants as the outcome,” part of the lobby’s petition reads.

The group warns the country could be left divided as witnessed after the 2005 referendum.

“We wish to bring to your attention of dispute that arose after the 2005 referendum. We do not want a process that would leave Kenyans more divided,” David Kimengere Waititu, the lobby’s organizing secretary told Daily Nation.

“At the end, this will result to a badly contested referendum and create a poisoned society ahead of the 2022 general elections. In this regard, it is our view that the process be suspended and as a team the BBI should mid-wife a meeting between the proponents of the process and their opponents together with all stakeholders in a conference to iron out all contested issues,” Kimengere added.

Last week, Raila opined a referendum to introduce changes to the constitution could be held in November or December this year.

“Initially we were thinking that we would be able to do a referendum by July or August but this has not been possible. We are hoping Covid-19 will peak by September and after that, it will start going down in October. We will be in a position to do a referendum by the end of November or sometime in December,” he told NTV’s Kennedy Muriithi during an interview.

Wakati umefika sasa ambapo Ndugu Raila, Kalonzo, Mudavadi, Arap Ruto, Wetangula, na wengineo wachache wanafaa wastaafu (retire) kutoka kwenye siasa na kuwaachia wengine kuifufua nchi ya Kenya kwa kila jambo 2022.

    • Unfortunately the young…
Unfortunately the young Turks you are referring to are more greedy and corrupt than the old guards! Who are the young guys are you talking about – Sonko, Waititu, Sudi, Murkomen, Kihika, etc??

The 99.999% of the youthful politicians are hungry hyenas whose goal is purely to enrich themselves without regard of the general populace. They are stealing without any shame! They are even killing those who call them out!

It is quite a shame to tell you this but that is the known truth! A very good example is DP Ruto himself! He has stolen everything to include his neighbor’s land! Are these the young folks you are talking about? Wacha upuzi na wewe!!!

Most of the youthful politicians are nothing but bustards!!

      • Yes! Political bustards;…
Yes! Political bustards; having neither Political fathers, Father figures, Mentors nor Political Science. They think going Abroad is Enough to make them Influential in Politics here at home. In other words: CONMEN.?????????

        • @guest1 – and you forgot the…
@guest1 – and you forgot the new breed of Kenya diaspora women who have been taught their Nigerian counterparts to be huge gold diggers and conwomen! This breed is now overtaking the conmen!!

  2. Unfortunately the diaspora…
Unfortunately the diaspora group fails to understand the intricate politics on the ground between various groupings! If Tanga Tanga and Jubilee can’t agree on current issues, do you expect other players to come to a consensus ?

There is no need to postpone the BBI because each group interested in BBI have had a chance to make the necessary contributions.

The lobby group is just another group that hold no much water since those in the diaspora can’t vote unless they individually travel back to Kenya to vote! Let’s get on with the BBI and then move on to better things which directly affect the average Kenyans!

Thanks Waititu for trying but you are out of touch with the issues going on in Kenya! Have a nice day!!

    • Certainly you have nicely…
Certainly you have nicely told off this wannabe in America! They only jump up to make shitty comments when it least matters to us here at home!

  3. I find it quite strange and…
I find it quite strange and illogical that the various diaspora groups feel entitled to tell Kenyans how we should decide on important issues affecting our lives!

Now they want to tell us that we have some BBI matters we need to resolve before the reports are handed over to Uhuru and Raila!

Hi guys in the diaspora, those who initiated the BBI have mouths to talk over the BBI matters (including the thorny issues) if they find that the contributions are not enough or well represented!!

Stop telling Kenyans at home what is good or bad for them here at home! You should have stayed in Kenya if you deem it so important for you to say whatever you wish to say about the ongoing matters. Your throwing mud from 20k miles does not add any value to our way of life here in Kenya!

And don’t even tell you you remit money here – that money you send to your papa and mama, and the rest to buy land, etc.

I hope the Waititu talking here is not the brother of the former governor Waititu who stole the Kiambu county blind and has yet to return our money!

You still carry the hangover of colonial Kaburu who raped Kenya but still want to tell Kenyans how to live and enjoy our lives from the towers of London! Nonsense!!!!

    Give us a damn break!

    • Wow, exactly! Very precise …
Wow, exactly! Very precise @muruthi! We are tired of wolves calling shots from outside the country! Whoever thinking things are damn so bad in Kenya should return home and help tackle whatever problems on the ground! We are tired of hawa long distant Wahhabists (Wajuaji)!!

    • @Muruthi you are out of…
@Muruthi you are out of touch Kenyans in Kenya want exactly what Kenyans living abroad are asking for . we have devolution most of the workd went to counties. BBI creation of president vice, prime minster, vice is uncalled for. It is a way of creating jobs for a few and the few we are talking of recycling . so think about yourself and your family when you start typing just to insult diaspora . we are ONE people we just happen to be living somewhere else for now and even if we would never return the fight is about Kenyans in Kenya

      • I damn sure know what I’m…
I damn sure know what I’m talking about because I am on the ground! My family and I are doing extra fine running successful medium and small size businesses in Kenya and East Africa! We sure need more businesses to directly effect change on the ground!

Government should never be the only source of employment to its citizens. So, I am now typing to tell you that life is quite functional here in Kenya because I’m living it and it is very good!

You keep talking about devolved counties but at the end of the day, we keep seeing Uhuru initiating projects because most of the money going to the counties is corruptly handled and misused! Just look at Nairobi county? Are you proud of what Sonko is doing there? Lollipop talk to us is useless!

I can also assure you that you are not fighting for the people of Kenya; you are fighting for your damn self. Yes, your talk is very cheap and helps no body in Kenya!

So @loise, stop lecturing me from thousands of miles while you have no damn clue what you are talking about!

      • Ok! Develop where you are…
Ok! Develop where you are living and leave us alone to do our best here in Kenya! You ran away while we have a nation to build! ? peace!!

      • @loise – we are tired of…
@loise – we are tired of these various groupings in the diaspora who tell us lies that we are ONE people! Why not unit first there in the diaspora instead of forming – Kiama Kia GUI, Kiama Kia ngima, Kiama Kia Nyau, Kiama Kia nugu, Kiama Kia hiti, Kiama Kia ngombe, Kiama kia thungura, Kiama Gia thicho, Kiama Kia urogi, etc!?There is not much you are doing to help us here at home! Stay where you are and stop starting fires here for us to put out.

      • Please no! Kenyans in Kenya…
Please no! Kenyans in Kenya do not want what Kenyans in the diaspora want; period!! We know exactly what we want and we also know how to get what we want! And by the way, we are not one and the same people! The handshake have brought peace across the country! I think @loise you are either out of touch or grossly misinformed by some crazy person near where you live! BBI will bring some lasting peace in Kenya, except for Ruto people who want to be warring every single day!

  4. Rumor has it that…
Rumor has it that Commonwealth Voter Privileges Right Association is an amorphous group of long distance , short distance lorry drivers and CNA’s

    • For the first time you have…
For the first time you have gotten it correct! They are leader is Waititu the brother to ex-Kiambu Governor! The trucking industry is on its knees with the widespread corona virus!

Now these damn guys are eyeing the 2022 election season in Kenya. Some will return to contest certain political positions by presenting some fake resumes – eg a truck driver in the US will tell you he owned a logistics company, and now has enough experience to be your MP, Governor, Senator, MCA, etc.

Most of these truck drivers have stolen lots of money from some of their counterparts through forming some shoddy trucking dispatch small businesses that never pay federal taxes! They operate more like a mafia group and had ruined many smaller trucking owned groups by charging them exorbitant fees and fake vehicle insurances.

These dispatch companies evaporate in the thin air once caught by the IRS. They file for bankruptcy and disappear.

Then the same criminal group regroups and forms another dispatch company under a different name – possibly using a child’s name!

So this group is an amorphous group of criminals in the US (mainly in Dallas, Texas) which now is trying to find roots in Kenya. Beware folks!

  5. The stakeholders in the BBI…
The stakeholders in the BBI are the ordinary Kenyan people @Waititu! We are the proponents and opponents of everything the BBI has to offer!

So what are you suggesting that we need to mid-wife here!? Every time women are brought in a stable family, polygamy sets in and a lot of madness occur! Just keep you mid-wiring there in the diaspora. We are happy with the BBI as it is written! Sokoro!!

    • Thank you @Nyamboke!! We are…
Thank you @Nyamboke!! We are fed up with myopic Kenyans in the diaspora stirring up trouble for us here at home! Most them are just druggies taking dope in the diaspora and are clueless how things are at home.

This sounds like Shem Ochuodho who cooks crap from a five stars while visiting Kenya but he never visits his rural home!l where he used to be the area MP! Mind your own business Waititu!

  6. Commonwealth Voter…
Commonwealth Voter Privileges Right Association is ruto team trying to sabotage progress. Ruto wants to rape Kenya like moi did

    • You are now talking! These…
You are now talking! These lose diasporas have been bribed by DP Ruto to start up trouble in Kenya! Ruto is even subdividing his huge land in the State of Mississippi and giving some land to these crooks so they can cook up crap in Kenya!

Ruto is not thinking well for Kenyans here at home! How do you give your chicken to a thief to watch them for you? We must reject these diaspora rejects who are caught in the dirty fray of destroying the good work taking place in our country!

Some in this silly trucking group are now talking because their corrupt relatives, eg ex-Governor Waititu was fired because of stealing people’s money! Those talking lived large in the diaspora when their brothers were supplying them with stolen money! Why did they not think about issues of BBI contention then when they directly benefited!? Stop preaching to us while you can even show up to take a direct role in building Kenya!!

Where were they when Kenya almost burnedin 2017/18?? We are tired of folks talking from a safe distance with little action!

This diaspora group is Susan Kihika group in Dallas, Texas! We see how much she has done for us except acting foolish and stirring trouble like a little horny bitch!

  7. Guest 13:you have to stop…
Guest 13:you have to stop deluding yourself that the only available jobs in the diaspora is trucking and CNA.. All countries in the world have all sorts of jobs. From trucking to professional jobs. And for your info, the diasporans do not bribe so as to get a job. They get sign on bonus instead.

    • Why try to spin what guest13…
Why try to spin what guest13 wrote @ ex-dissporian? Why?

You should understand English better since you lived in the diaspora before Trump deported you! @guest13 is simply saying the amorphous diaspora group in mane up of truck drivers and can!

We all know there other professions in which the other diaspora engage. The BBI way is the only solution for Kenya! One winner take all in every election has been costly for Kenya! We are tired of fighting among our people!

  8. It’s grossly hypocritical…
It’s grossly hypocritical for some self-appointed individuals, of extreme suspicious background; to purport to speak for genuine diaspora Kenyans. This disingenuity reaches the highest height of deceit when the same characters assume the role of advising the government of Kenya on matters of National interest such as BBI.
Whereas we cannot begrudge this rot of their craving for relevance, we request them to respect themselves and others in the Diaspora by speaking as individuals, and not as diaspora representatives. Denouncing the evils in Kenya when you are standing on worse evil smacks of ignorance on your part, and a misconceived notion that those in the diaspora are as gullible, we are not. WHO ELECTED OR APPOINTED YOU???
BBI is belated, we must address the runaway corruption in Kenya, perpetuated through the foreign hatched 2010 Constitution that brought about 47 Governments and million thieves.
Kenya must become the democracy it was meant to be since independent, not part Democracy and part socialist. The National Cake must be shared equitably. Your vote must carry same value as mine. One Kenya, One man, one vote, One Shilling must be the guiding Mantra.

    • Here is a shilling! You can…
Here is a shilling! You can go call someone who cares! to listen! Nice spill though!!
