US-based Kenyan scholar and lawyer Prof. Makau Mutua has criticized the decision by Uganda’s Makerere University to set up William Ruto Institute of African and Leadership Studies in honor of Kenya’s Deputy President.
Taking to Twitter, Prof. Mutua described the move as “the most absurd and utterly inconceivable blunder in the history of higher education in Africa.”
“A William Ruto Leadership Institute @MakerereU is the most absurd and utterly inconceivable blunder in the history of higher education in Africa,” wrote Mutua.
He added: “Today @MakerereU is the laughing stock of the world. I expect students, faculty, and staff to quickly erase this abomination. Now!”
The institute’s goals are to among others; develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning about Africa and enhancing and enriching intellectual and cultural life, according to a brief on the university’s website. It will also be used to strengthen relationships between academic and indigenous intellectuals as the basis for reclaiming indigenous knowledge and integrate this into local communities.
“Makerere University has been requested by the Office of the President of the Republic of Uganda to host the William Ruto Leadership Institute with laying the foundation stone scheduled for December 21, 2019, by HE the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya,” read a letter by Makerere University.
Speaking when he held a meeting with DP Ruto at Mubende State Lodge, Kampala on Saturday, Uganda President Yoweri Museveni pledged to give $100,000 towards the construction of the institute.
“This institute would go a long way in Africans deepening their knowledge base and furthering research that would transform Africa,” said Museveni.
“If we can invest in our institutions, we can come up with solid policies that would shape our development agenda.”
DP Ruto laid a foundation stone for the institute at the university’s main campus in Kampala on Saturday. There have been questions over what DP Ruto has done for East Africa and Africa to deserve such an honor by one of the most prestigious universities in the continent.
@Makau – we are all ears and…
@Makau – we are all ears and eyes in crying foul about Museveni forcing a long time reputable academic institution to honor DP Ruto, the renounced high priest of the worst corruption in the history of homo sapians worldwide! Ruto didn’t even show any remorseful shame attending such a faded honor!
Is Africa moving forward or just taking backward foot prints toward Stone Age era all over again! DP Ruto is a shame and a huge mockery to Kenya and Africa!
A known thief who has hosed Kenyans in a disgusting wholesome manner getting hailed as a leader? – is Makerere setting up a training school of corruption, theft and high crimes and misdemeanor?
And why does a dummy in the tall order of Museveni want to size down Kenyans in this manner? Where in the world are we heading to where known thieves are being glorified by their fella old thieves (Museveni)?
This is the worst betrayal Kenyans have to bitterly stomach!! Ruto should be deported to Uganda and Museveni barred never to enter Kenya!
I second Makau’s motion to ‘quickly erase this glutinous abomination!’ – a shameful spot in the history of Kenya initiated by the ? mad man of Uganda to another lunatic of Kenya intended to curse the good honorable people of Kenya! I don’t what this is, if it isn’t curse!
Maina, you seem dumbfounded…
Maina, you seem dumbfounded with anger, hatred and perhaps ignorance. You don’t seem to understand that a higher learning base has been expanded despite the name! This is what we call growth in our learning institutions. Not a curse!. You may think Museveni is a mad man. We don’t need to wait to see who you actually are.
I see you have been fun of calling Ruto a thief. As free citizen, why don’t you table evidence in court of law? If he is a murderer as you say, do the same thing. Prosecute him if you have evidence of such. And if you don’t shut up before we get you behind the dock for malice.
@Asista – while I do hope…
@Asista – while I do hope you have two eyes, your ignorance imekuteka nyala to be point of being a bonafide retard! Ask Bensunda what is still hanging over Ruto’s head at ICC. Ok talk to King Kaka and he will wrap it for you so you can get it!
Is Weston standing on a legally bought, free and clear piece of land! How about Kimerer and Arrow dams 21 billion shillings that passed through Ruto’s fingers.
And how about the 100 acres stolen from Ruto’s neighbor. Ok, what happened to Yebei, Juma and women and children in Kiambaa?
And on and on and on ….?????? Are you awake from your slumber now?? I’m never scared talking about thieves and will continue to speak about Ruto’s corruptions till hens come home to roost!
You aught to be ashamed of yourself defending looters who have impoverished Ordinary Kenyans through corruption and theft. Shame on you!
You would have thought your…
You would have thought your Bensouda have evidence related to Ruto. She doesn’t. Because there’s none. Zero. Zilch. And on your wildest daydream wishes, if indeed she has it then why not prosecute?
The ruling family owns land totaling the size of one of the previous provinces. If you really claim to have your eyes, why are you blind when it comes to this? I don’t support corruption but what is Weston or 100 acres compared to this?
Like I said instead bubbling up, get your evidence together and file it with the court as a private citizen. Don’t waste your time with some kitchen housewives sort of politics or rumors.
@asista – You are very…
@asista – You are very corrupt – a chicken ? thief is worse than a cow thief! You are so in love with thieves who suggest 2 billion shillings is minimized by 7 billion shillings cup of tea! Do you have any shame in your heart of hearts!? Since you eyes are blind you can’t see anything wrong with your tribesmen stealing from the people – mark you women and children?! Now you live in the Tower of Babel don’t you think soon it will collapse – that is why Kenyans are ver angry, and mad – literally!!!
Of course I love “kitchen wives politics – these are the mothers who are airing complains of theft and corruption because they have no milk and food to feed their crying babies who gather around the kitchen fire demanding food from these helpless mothers “ you so blatantly insult with a short sighted slag term of @kitchenwieves!” These are the mothers and children you lock in a Kiambaa church and set it ablaze, while your demon possessed men shot children who attempt to escape with poisoned arrows. You have no respect ✊ for these house wives and their dear children! What a shame! Where is humanity in you!!
And what shall you render to this “kitchenwieves you dare insult” mothers on this Christmas Day as the child ? of Bethlehem is looking down on them from Heaven to render mercy, grace and surely do so very much to them! Only Him (the Almighty King of kings) can do great things for the children and their humble mothers!! Only Him can do!!
Life is no long about “my people” – the kales, the Kikuyus, the Kambas, the Ndigo and what have you – it is about the good people of Kenya who want everything good about those ashy looking kids around the three stones fire places throughout Kenya today and in the far future! The old tables must be turned upside down a- Kenyans are tired of eating crumbs (meager left overs) under the table!!
You can live in denials but the wind of change is about to sweep thieves like a heavy sunami!! You will not resist it!
We are no long scared ? if threats by the “haves” who for a long time have stolen from us, @we the people!@! We have tarted fighting back as the majority, the DCI, the DPP, the police etc have finally joined hands to fight with us. Judge Mumbi, Makau Mutua, Governor Mutua, Odinga, Uhuru, and many more have joined hands to fight for the country and the people! We need our country back from thieves!
If you can do yourself a…
If you can do yourself a favor and do exactly what I asked you to do, believe me you will safe yourself lots of agonizing minutes you seem to be going through.
@2asusta – as you can see -…
@2asusta – as you can see – It is a very good “agony?” to experience when addressing thieves and their supporters!
Passing real Agony to you is the best means to inculcate a clear message to your faculties that stealing is wrong!
Boy, you got go-nuts to think you can tell me anything when you sleep with thieves and reduce your whole moral being by insulting women? Do you have a mother?
Is it a woman’s fault that your appetite for stealing knows no boundaries? You can be the first student enrolled at the new school of corruption being set up in Makerere by the two old thieves! I just can’t help to feel so sad and sorry for you! That in this day in age folks still shamelessly steal from their own country! You have shocked ?me to the bone marrows for supporting theft!
Going by your rants, you don…
Going by your rants, you don’t seem to be anti corruption crusader. You are up in a cherry pick attacks exercise on individuals based on your on vendetta.
If your eyes were truly trained against corruption, you would not be omitting that the country Kenya is being looted left and right and by including those that you have glorified herein!
You cannot be a true corruption champ if you fighting it discriminately. Especially from those who principally, politically or otherwise we disagree with.
There’s no way we can succeed in combating this vice if we choose to fight it selectively.
Who differs with who…
Who differs with who politically? Most of those caught stealing are in JP! Aren’t they?
It is the JP thieves who are setting themselves apart so they can politically cry carca that “mtu wetu” anaonewa na wegine! 21 billion shillings was lost Among Ruto, Murkomen, and Sudi. Ruto explained as 7 billion shillings – and the Kales now have no water ? to drink.
Rotich can’t explain the 63 billion shillings he embezzled. Call it ranting or whatever – but do you see these obvious red flags?
Those tailing Ruto in TangaTanga are merely doing so to cover up their theft – Waititu, Sonko, etc!
Selective is coined word Ruto uses to mobilize your Kalenjin community once he is caught stealing. You should know this fact!
Accept to exorcise the demands of theft and you will be just fine!
You said Ruto was prepping…
You said Ruto was prepping to cry victim to kales. What is waititu going to say? How about Sonko? Nys chiefs? KRA, Kenya airways? What tribal foul are they going cry?
Kenya airways lost 100 billion within a short span but your tribal eyes and fixated mentality cannot see that.
And why would the ruling family want rush to buy the whole airline at a collapsed price tag? Is is corruption.
I see you are stuck in some dam in Ruto’s backyard.
Was Waiguru stealing for Uhuru? Or was KRA chief? Or the airport chiefs?
For fairness sake don’t try fighting any injustices on tribal lines.It’s shouldn’t be about Kalenjin or Kikuyu, or Luo et al.
Amazingly every corruption…
Amazingly every corruption ridden politician/civil servant ends up finding a bed in Ruto’s bedroom! The high priest of corruption has a unique way of sharing Champaign thieves!
Ruto is very good at using proxies – Murkomen, Sudi, etc to publicly deliver tribal “my guy is going through tribulations” because he is a Kalejin as they covertly send coded messages to the entire community for protection.
The other tribes has a saying to the lone thief, “carry your cross alone and don’t invoke Our mtu wetu sentiments to us!” Something which is very exotic to the Kalejin community – a thief in your community is highly glorified, and everyone becomes a co-perpetrator and he becomes a hero to all within!
Don’t play damn, you know how you work the tribal cards as you drink sour musiki to solemnize corruption. And unfortunately, corruption appears to be brewed an acceptable way of life in Sugoi/Mugotio dens!
@asista – you read what you…
@asista – you read what you write? Your first paragraph says it all! DP Ruto is hoping to be the next president, although it will never happen! You minimizing DP corrupt nature by invoking other corrupt thieves – deep inside your head, does two wrongs make it right for Ruto to be marred in corruption.
Are you willing to fight the corruption vice or as long as others are getting their fat bodies dumped in the muddy corruption pig-dump you are all fine with theft?
Is Kenya a better off country when resources are fairly distributed and used for good of all Kenyans?
Kenya is in borrowed debt nearing 8 trillion shillings – are you happy about this? Are you gonna leave debt or wealth to the future generations? What are you gonna tell the kids of the future when they asked you if you spoke against corruption?
Are you gonna say That “my tribesman stole and it was ok with you?” Is Kenya a one man’s tribal den, or a collection of tribes that make the larger picture all good?? Sadly enough, your defense for you tribesman in matters corruption is alarming!?
All those you have mentioned are his comrades in corruption. They all steal in billions of shillings all things held together. They share similar sentiments with Ruto over get rich quick illicit schemes that are draining the poor. They all now brag to Kenyans about dining with the kings! Is this naked shame or what?
The biggest defender of Waititu, Sonko, etc is Murkomen under the express instructions of his master, Ruto. Ruto said Sonko will overcome the tribulations of stealing people’s money. Really, really, really!?
In essence those you proudly mentioned are aligning themselves with Ruto so that their exponential appetite for stealing can be well sheltered in the Ruto presidency as they share the ill gotten lot.
They call themselves hustlers in the game of corruption; a crime the “donkeys” (tax payers) have started heavy back-kicking in earnest!!
This conversation started with Museveni insulting good hard working Kenyans by naming a leadership school – Ruto! Is Ruto the example the future generations need to revisit in history? I beg to differ; I beg not! This kind of nonsense must cease immediately!
One can’t carry two oppositely opposed titles – the high priest of corruption and a moral leader of management philosophy! I rest my case, damn it!
My problem with you is not…
My problem with you is not that I defend whoever you brand as a thief. But with evidence of such allegations should I see reason and fairness. Not road dude shows.
My problem with you is the way you think things corruption in Kenya singly as if one individual is the perpetrator. The corrupt Kenyan attitude has to change. I pray I won’t be wrong today if I say that 90% of Kenyans are “ culturally “ corrupt on their own little or big ways. Am talking of Maina included!. Unfortunately your chorus is fixated to one individual. I have noticed your foot stamps on the same subject matter elsewhere.
This “ culture “ has to stop. From the top to bottom or vice versa.
Asiata – The reality is…
Asiata – The reality is basically factual about the high priest of corruption – as Raila nick-named your dear corrupt ‘‘fren”! The evidence of corrupt nature is overly overwhelming to convict him and lock him up for years to come!
I never branded “anyone” as a thief! The true stubborn facts have qualified your darling “fren” with the hash#thief! It is the truth – and that truth can set him free if he could curtail his corruption appetite to zero. No one has to steal to be a hustler. So it is unnecessary to label oneself a hustler if you are stealing from others. Hustlers are those who have made it into the wealth through honest means.
I can assure you that I have never stolen anything from any body – nada! I also play by the rule of law, pay my huge share of taxes in all my income earning sources, and make sure I gift the needy!
All my wealth is earned through blood and sweat, hard work, and I regularly provide financial and material support to many in need! I pay all my taxes through quantifiable audits, accountability coupled with a wide bath open responsibility. My accountability records are very clear and transparently honest.
Over the years I have known that clean wealthy is the only admirable way one can sleep without worrying about who is coming after me! This is the reason I detest thieves because I know that one can be wealthy through honest hard work, without cutting corners, or blatantly cheating the system and the poor people in the society.
I am at a point I do not have to work if I desire not to, but it is always my pleasure to work even harder because any extra earning can be offered to those who may need it most.
I am glad that it has taken a lot of discussion with you to open your mind to accept that you can free your mind from the thoughts of stealing.
You can train yourself to have zero appetite for those small and big things that never belonged to you in the first place. There are so many countries in the world – such as Norway, Finland, Netherlands, etc where people do not steal and they embrace each other with kindness and deep gratification. Kenya can attain that status if we can recover from the stealing sickness as a people!
There is no joy in keeping what is not legally yours. The Kenyan people must defeat the desire to steal or to bride others. By doing so, Kenya will become such a better place and the future would be extremely bright!
I just noticed on your wall…
I just noticed on your wall words like this: ….“ Dp Ruto vying for president, although it will never happen “. This is very much futuristic. Anyone can contest for president. But unless you already know something poll maleficent or corruption in the electoral process, and ahead of the remainder two year period in the process, then I suppose it won’t happen. Predetermined government of the day sponsored elections are always rigged.
Am not minimizing Ruto as part of your alleged corrupt ways but it’s you who’s maximizing him. You are downplaying the big rot. The bug stops at the head of state. And like I said every Kenyan who breathes is corrupt. That sadly includes Maina.
Kenya can be a better place for distribution of equitable resources safe for the counties. And the supporting constitution. Unfortunately these counties heads have turned out to be the white wash, the other extension of of the vice.
It’s in contrary that the people aligning themselves to Ruto sre just nothing but peoples democratic rights of political or social alignments, and that the dynasties of corruption are afraid of change to a hustler nation. A new nation that will change the face of Kenya. A progressive change. Change that the people have been yearning for decades. Change is coming!
Kenyans are perpetually…
Kenyans are perpetually cursed and doomed if Ruto – the most corrupt man in the universe – is the change you assume Kenya needs! Makau referred this guy as an ”abomination!”
Such a heavily loaded word have a special meaning; and especially when tagged on someone by a law professor! A man you can learn a thing or two.
You have drank too much poisoned musiki to even see the light on a clearly bright day light.
Have a nicely corrupt day. I rest my case as you are beyond any marketable correction!
The personal placement of Mr…
The personal placement of Mr Ruto as the most corrupt being in the universe is arbitrarily absurd. I have urged you manyfold here that you either produce evidence of such allegations to as either a private citizen or through an organization. These are readily open avenues supported in the laws to address grievances as yours. Without which, kindly treat your sentiments as propaganda, gossip or unfounded rumors. It’s that simple.
For your information please find out how many Pinocchio’s he has on his head as a professor. It’s not that I have any beef with the professor but I have to caution on some things he spits.
When a nation rises up to choose their leader, it would not be a curse but a democratic choice by the people. It may not be your choice but the populace carries the day.
To sum up , I would like to wish you good. Not anything else.
@asista – I kindly beg you…
@asista – I kindly beg you to stop your insulting of women if you are man enough – how dare you call them “kitchen wives!?”
Women are respectable and treasured in the part of country from where I come! Do you really have any shame ranting about women and categorically insulting them with your dirty kitchen?
It is your time to get your dirty mouth into the Kitchen and let women free to fight corruption in Kenya! They are tired of thieves and dirty politicking.
No woman ever like to think she gave birth to a thief, and especially if it is a baby boy. When a thief is born, you should blame the father and not the mother.
A man can fight back but women do not fight back because they know better! – have you lost your mind calling women, “kitchen wives and rumor mongers!” You have gone beneath Satan himself! You just sound like a bonafide Rucifer!! Stop ? it for God’s sake!
Do you have a mother in your disgruntled life! You ought to cut off your manhood and feed it to the dogs if that is what it will take to stop ✋ abusing women!
Shame on you coward – no wonder you think stealing is just “ok!” A thief is a thief!, plain and simple!
At Kambi Kuku last Friday,…
At Kambi Kuku last Friday, Ruto said Sonko will win the corruption case and keep all the stolen lot! He referred to Sonko with a fancy name, “Sonkoree!”
A thief always begins with stealing chicken as a boy! Kambi Kuku surely trained Ruto well!
I wonder why Museveni had to defile Makerere U instead of honoring Ruto at Kambi Kuku. It would have been more appropriate to have the school build on that known ground. A place where the DP regularly visits to practice the art of theft.
M. Mutua; do you have a…
M. Mutua; do you have a personal beef with Dp Ruto or are you making noise in preparation for 2022 political office? Did you want Makerere Univ. to name it after you; by the way Ruto amesoma pia, he is PhD holder and a proven politician in the record books. For you endelea tuu hapa diaspora with your noises! Bro, you are irrelevant as far as Dp Ruto is concerned; I beg you to go and report him at DCI like your comrade Alfred Mutua. Share the same last names, Duh!
@kibowen – you would think…
@kibowen – you would think having a PhD would make him intellectualmy conscious not to be marred in the worst corruption deals Kenya has ever experienced in the past 56 years!
While the DCI is doing a good job dealing with criminals, the ordinary citizens are madly tired of thieves and due course they will take the law in their hands to free Kenya from the shackles of corruption! Where will be you be?
And what is in a name? – Everything – and that everything must be good to the weak and the under privileged! A good name does everything right; mind you!
Very unfortunate for you to attack Makau when he is addressing real issues affecting ordinary Kenyans!
Makau can make a far much better president because he will not steal from the poor people who play by the rule of law and pay taxes; only to be stolen upon arrival to the depository!
Can’t you be ashamed for once glorifying those who have brought Kenya on its knees through corruption? Is 21 billion shillings a chant change to you? Where is you moral conscience – @kibiwen? What a freaking shame; oh why a shame!?
@kibowen – the idea of see…
@kibowen – the idea of see no evil, do no evil, and lack of morality in managing Kenya’s vast resources simply because mtu wetu is stealing has put Kenya and all its people in a very precariously slippery slope.
What does the word, “country” mean to you? Does Kenya have to collapse in every aspect just because the thief is “my tribesman”!
Does Kenya have to disintegrate simply because the most corrupt creature hails from your village and has a sleek Willey tongue to lie to Kenyans in theological terms that God want a hustler to succeed through corruption?
@kibiwen, are you not angry ? whenever you travel around your country and see old grannies hopelessly walking around sick and hungry!? – you should be angry!
Yes, I get very angry when I see folks sufferOmg while the thieves are riding high to the skies with cars bought with the proceeds of corruption – any normal Kenyan should get ? angry when a few bad apples drop their trousers and publicly moon them!
A thief should be called out and put on notice regardless of the tribe he comes from.
We are demanding “a corruption free Kenya” which the future generations can be proud of and be able to enjoy the fruits of our hard earned independence! The idea of 10 millionaires, and 46 million strugglers is not serving Kenya well. If you Kibowen think this is the Kenya the future generations want, shamelessly “stand up” and say so!
You attack Makau and Mutua for fighting the corruption vice and mocking them when threatened with assassination!
Why! Did you not scream from roof tops when Ruto lied 3 Kikuyu were plotting his demise? And now you want to tell Kenyans the life of ordinary folks is equivalent to the life of chicken traded at Kambi Kuku?
He leadership of Kenya is not a preserve of Ruto – he can speak with a tongue honey but the facts are wide open for Kenyans to know he ain’t a man of the poor people! We need change from the same old things which has not worked in the past 56 years!!
The next leadership of Kenya has to be different and clean. Kenya can not be lead by anyone with some past stains of corruption and theft! We must save Kenya from the destruction through corruption. We must stop glorifying thieves and electing them to take us to the dead end zones of poverty, disease, ignorance and more stealing. I challenge every Kenya to be angry of those who have put Kenya 9 feet under while they sail a loaf with utter nonsense political slogans!
I challenge the a Kenyan people to take control of their appetite for stolen things – temporary Tamaa of bribes by elected thieves to keep them in high offices! We must wake up abs salvage our beautiful country! Think of Kenya and put aside your small tribe for the sake of all Kenyans! Yes, I am angry, very angry indeed of those hosing Kenya!!
For once I concur with Mr…
For once I concur with Mr. Mutua. The so called institute is a big joke. Poor Africans. They have eyes and ears but they barely use them. Museveni is attempting to sanitize the prince of corruption. What a sad day for a major learning institution. Really sad.
