Deported Kenyan-Canadian lawyer, Miguna Miguna has announced he will be returning to Kenya soon.
In a post on Twitter, Miguna said he will go back to Kenya following the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report on Wednesday. He said his trip to his motherland will be to test President Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga’s resolve in uniting the country.
“I’m organizing another journey to Kenya to TEST the seriousness of the Despot and Con-Man. They have publicly stated that they respect CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS and want to UNITE KENYANS. To prove that they are serious, let them OBEY COURT ORDERS and give me my Passport. #BurnBBIReport #RejectBBI #DespotsMustFall,” wrote Miguna Miguna.
Miguna was first deported in February last year days after his arrest over his role in the mock swearing-in of Odinga on January 30th, 2018. The immigration department later said that Miguna was in Kenya illegally as he renounced his Kenyan citizenship when acquiring a Canadian passport.
The following month, he attempted to return to Kenya through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) but was banished after spending several hours at the airport’s detention facility.
In December last year, the High Court ruled that Miguna is a Kenyan by birth and holding a Canadian passport does not deny him his birthright. In his ruling, Justice Chacha Mwita declared that the State violated his rights by deporting him and awarded Miguna Sh7.2 million in compensation.

According to International Law, you have not entered a Country, if you have not gone through Customs clearance. Miguna will not be under the Kenyan Jurisdiction, unless he goes through passport control. You cannot ask a public officer to produce someone who is not within Kenyan Jurisdiction. Ignorant Kenyan Judges may pass populist judgments, but JKIA has to follow International Law, for every passenger, for all Airlines to be allowed by IATA to land at the Airport. So Miguna has to produce his Canadian passport, and be given a Visa to enter Kenya, at JKIA, like all Canadians!

This yahoo should just keep his ass in Canada and leave us wanainchi alone. The drama at the airport was unbelievable. The old Kenya constitution revoked his Kenyan citizenship. The 2010 constitution reinstated his citizenship if he filled out a simple form requesting reinstatement. He refused to do so. The other alternative was to use his Canadian passport and get a visa like millions of other people have done. He refused that also.
The other wonder was the Kenyan judge who chose to ignore the constitution and rule MM never lost hid citizenship.
This and a few other things make us miss the good old days.
