Diaspora Lobby to Host Summit in Nairobi Next Month

Kenya Diaspora Alliance (KDA) is set to host the 6th edition of the Kenya Diaspora Homecoming Convention (KDHC) in Nairobi next month.

The summit whose theme will be “Diaspora and Big 4 Agenda” will take place from December 17th to 19th at the Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi.

The forum will focus on the role of the diaspora in the government’s Big Four Agenda- manufacturing, universal health, food security, and affordable housing.

It will bring together 500 participants from Kenya diaspora, representatives from both the national and county governments, private corporates, media, academia, civil society and development partners.

The event provides a platform to facilitate interaction between the diaspora and other stakeholders, to hasten their participation in national socio-economic development.

KDA Global Chairperson Dr. Shem Ochuodho said the event has grown over the past six years, with notable diaspora remittance into the country hitting over Sh200 billion.

“The fact that the diaspora has remitted over 200 billion into the economy confirms the commitment, loyalty, emotional attachment and faith that the diaspora community has in the motherland.”

“The main goal of the Convention is to bring together the diaspora community to be part of Kenya’s economic, cultural and ideological change in face of the historic handshake moment,” he added.

“…while we focus on investments in the country, it is key to discuss ways that the diaspora can contribute towards the President’s 4 agendas,” said Ochuodho.
