Activist Boniface Mwangi has hit out at Dennis Itumbi, the State House Director of Digital and Diaspora Communications for doing little for Kenyans in the diaspora.
In his weekly column in The Nairobian newspaper, Mwangi accused Itumbi of ignoring the plights of Kenyans abroad, which are supposed to be highlighted by the docket he holds.
“To Kenyans in the diaspora, Dennis Itumbi supposedly works for you. Our hard-earned taxes pay his salary. Yet he has done nothing for you,” he wrote.
“He hasn’t fought for your right to vote. He hasn’t made it easier for you to get your passports. You still can’t invest easily in Kenya without fearing that you will be swindled.”
He further accused the State House operative of backing illegalities such as the illegal deportation of self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna.
He challenged Kenyan living and working abroad to petition President Kenyatta to appoint someone who cares about them to the position.
“It’s time you asked President Uhuru to appoint some brains to represent you. Remember Itumbi supported Miguna’s deportation; at the very least he should have remained quiet.
“So, if you’re a dual citizen, know that the Senior Director of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President doesn’t care about you,” he wrote.
The people in Diaspora will…
The people in Diaspora will need one of their own. They need a person who has lived in the Diaspora and one who understands the problem s they go through. The problems they face in terms of school, employment, social, health. One who will teach them the history and the culture so those countries to decide on how to cope and if they need to leave Kenya. It is hard for anyone to pretend they understand. We have so many success stories as we have casualties. It’s time for our government to start looking at the Balance sheet of its citizens abroad if it cares. Let it start talking with those abroad .
The only valid comment I…
The only valid comment I would like to make is, have tried to the Kenyan embassy London? If not try go get a visa or if in need of some assistance. They are so ignorant and do not even look at you when attending to you. One day I saw one attend to a white person before their own black peoples and to make matters worse? The black person was in a cue in front this white person. What does one make of that? Terrible and racist against their own people?
Mwangi, in the first place…
Mwangi, in the first place Miguna Miguna should have respected and obeyed the laws of Kenya. By so doing, he would have avoided the deportation. Secondly, Kenyans in Diaspora who have been frequenters to the country do not need a Dennis Itumbi or anyone else to conduct their businesses in Kenya. Third, Dennis Itumbi is a product of the Diaspora and replacing him with another Diaspora is not the solution. The solution is to hold him accountable for execution of his duties.
Boniface Mwangi hapo…
Boniface Mwangi hapo umeandika ZERO. Miguna knows the process of regaining his Kenyan pp and what is expected at the port of entry but he was interested in drama. He got what he wanted.
Boni don’t let personal…
Boni don’t let personal vendetta clog your mind. Laxity within the public service is what you should be addressing instead. Rise above pettiness, you are better than this. Itumbi you should have been replaced long time ago but this government does not care about diasporians anyway and this is not new. Make no mistake, they follow remittances gleefully.
Miguna squared renounced his…
Miguna squared renounced his Kenyan citizenship a long time ago. Mwangi, you are as useless and clueless as you purport Itumbi is.If you have to attack him get your facts right first, and also start from Kenya where corruption has been made into a religion to be followed.
