Kenyan Woman Dies in Italy over Alleged Medical Negligence

A Kenyan woman has died in Italy following alleged negligence by doctors in a hospital where her family had sought medical services.

Reports indicate that 37-year-old Yvonne Ndinda passed on after doctors in the Italian hospital declined to perform a Cesarean Section on her, even after she pleaded for the service for hours.

Speaking to an Italian News paper Il Messagero, her husband identified as Ibrahim said that he took her to the hospital’s emergency unit to seek for C-section, but doctors rubbished his calls saying it was unnecessary. Ibrahim said at this point, her wife was finding it difficult to breath.

“At one point, my wife said she could not breathe, but the doctor did nothing about,” her husband said.

It took four days before the doctors performed the surgery on Ms Ndinda. When they finally did, Ndinda died during the operation but a baby girl, Oprah Rose survived.

“We come from a Third World country and even there, such things don’t happen. My wife had come to join me in Italy and we wanted to build a family together. But now that will not happen,” Ibrahim said.

No surprise here-ourpeople die in China, India, Saudi Arabia etc, seeking medical help that is easily given to other nationalities pronto. Until we fix our own country and Africa, am afraid our this is our fate out there. Husband; get an attorney and sue those doctors and hospital- this is a human rights violations.

4 days? OMG this woman was tortured to death. Sincere condolences to you Ibrahim and family. Indeed it’s medical negligence worth suing for for malpractice. Wonder if racism played a role? God bless your baby and family.

This could have been avoided…Yes 4 days later, that’s very bad anywhich way you look at it.Four days of pain, four days on inaction. I would like to know the response from the hospital.Iknow some hospitals in USA pass an indigent( Iam not insinuating that she was an indigent,I dont know) around till they land on an hospital that treat indigents.Iknow this was aproblem in Florida at one point. In other words if you dont have insurance, and you are deemed to not need immediate treatment, those with insurance come first.I hope and trust that this is not what happened, however,if it is, those doctors should face the fullest extend of the law in being punished. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

  3. Where racism does not exist,…
Where racism does not exist, tribalism does. Cesarian section is the easiest surgery one can have and for them to decline it is pure evil. Am so sorry for Ibrahim. was this about insurance? On the other hand lets keep in mind that many people have died in KNH and other hospitals because they could not come up with enough funds for treatment. That should be a conversation everyone needs to have.
