How IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe Fled Kenya for the United States

IEBC commissioner Dr Roslyne Akombe, who resigned from the commission last night, is said to have used an opportunity to travel to Dubai on an official trip to flee Kenya for the United States.

Akombe along with another commissioner had been scheduled to be in Dubai leading a delegation that is monitoring the printing on ballot papers by Dubai-based Al Ghurair.

She flew out of Kenyan on Monday for Dubai on a 10pm flight but never checked out of Dubai International Airport, according to The Standard. She left Dubai for New York on Tuesday morning. She sent her resignation letter on arrival in New York.

Source told The Standard that Akombe, who holds Kenya and US dual citizenship, did this to avoid getting clearance from the government, which requires that top government officials get cleared before traveling abroad.

On August 16th, there were claims that she was pulled out of a plane at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and temporarily detained while trying to flee the country.  Reports at the time said she was later allowed to board the flight and she would later deny the claims. “The statements attributed to me on social media following my delayed flight in Nairobi are false and unwarranted. I’m deeply concerned by the statements attributed to me on my departure from Nairobi. They are false and unwarranted. While it is unfortunate that my departure was delayed, I at no time indicated that I was fleeing my beloved country due to questions raised on the credibility of our elections,” she added at the time.

In her resignation letter on Tuesday night, Akombe said she resigned because some commissioners have been serving partisan interests. She also said the commission is not in a position to deliver a credible election on October 26th, and that she did not want to be “party to such a mockery to electoral integrity.”

  1. Who the hell is she fooling?…
Who the hell is she fooling? Milk all you can Miss Orengo ooops Miss Akombe, ran around doing media rounds , interview away because when the evidence is presented , then that UN ka Job envied by many will be a thing of the past.

    • @formerguest you are the one…
@formerguest you are the one who is jealous of that “UN ka job” what a loser. What makes one think like that? A Job is a job. It depends on who is doing it and why? I am sure if you had the opportunity to work at the UN – after getting a good education, you would be pissing on every one around you

      • Woii if you only knew,…
Woii if you only knew, lakini ni sawa yes I’m very jealous .. Fyi you would not pay me to work for UN, IMF or World Bank and I can … !!!

      • Yes I did it call it “ka UN…
Yes I did it call it “ka UN job” incase you didn’t get the drift. Having a UN job is just that and trust me you would not pay me enough to ship me around the world in some unsafe enclvaes and projects in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan , Hungary , even NYC and live in some toilet like apartment, or send me to some war ridden Guinea , Niger and Mali ,so mr. Upuzi I have many friends in that world and no not interested in that world. SOme of us love our little unknown jobs that are so gratifying in the end. You see your Upuzi is to assume everyone glorifies working for brentwood Institutions and thrives from that glory, ca, M’iinteresse pas… Yeah I speaks that and other 2 foreign languages and I can fit right in , so I leave you with this; opinion is like ….. everyone has it !

      • Been there, done that could…
Been there, done that could care less for UN. Overrated!!! Wait till Trump cuts down US contribution. Nimenena.

  2. She better be as a clean as…
She better be as a clean as Pamba when all is said and done. What is done in darkness shall come out to light some day , somehow, you are a traitor!

    • Heard her being interviewed…
Heard her being interviewed by Larry Madowo, and she said Chiloba is the one who should have resigned not her (but that she did it for the “love of her country”). She claims there are partisan interest, but only seems to insinuate that only one side is favoured (you know which). As you say fg2, she’d better be clean as cotton, coz once the real truth comes out she may be toast on both sides of the pond.

      • Chiloba was asked to step…
Chiloba was asked to step aside due to his involvement in many unexplained questionable acts that were contrary to the IEBC’s mandate. Jubilee ordered him to stay put and he refused to recluse himself. Chebukati & UN have already spoke positively of her excellent character and excellent work in the previously assigned tasks. So I am with her, till proven guilty. Her legacy is more important.

        • Continue drinking the cool…
Continue drinking the cool aid coz there is some dossier circulating out there . I will be quiet as of now until it all comes to light , hiyo tuu. What legacy? Anyone can be spoken of highly until their questionable behavior come to light. What did you want the UN to say at the moment, they have a reputation to uphold, they do not go around on a smear campaign like our baba out there and Chebukati what else would he say too. Some short sighted comments are so annoying

        • Don’t tickle my ribs..”many…
Don’t tickle my ribs..”many unexplained questionable acts” my foot. Vagueness is a form of acting dumb. If you can write a whole paragraph, you should have capacity to list the “questionable acts”. But I am sure, you are the folks that find words like illegalities and irregularities sexy. Like the honcho’s; your admirees in the SC.

Ha ha hah Maraga you have made my night, this gal can sleep entertained now :-), ati Honcos in SC – myrtle Beach ha haha h

      • She seems so eager to tell…
She seems so eager to tell her story, you know, a victim is so traumatised, they usually wait like a week to let people in esp Media and tell their side . For someone who is so fearful, she is not hiding her whereabouts even in US. Things happen…..

        • She was fearful in Kenya…
She was fearful in Kenya where people are being murdered like msando. She is in the land of the FREE and a land of the BRAVE. It’s important to point out that time is for the essence, elections is next week, she has anything credible that can save the nation she better air out immediately.

          • and if she participated in…
and if she participated in any criminality, well this land can extradite her and strip her off her citizenshi. Only in Utopia maana falls from heaven and there will be no sorrows hymn are sung . Anywhere else , everything can be undone even Ocampo is not singing hallelujah anymore , is he . Wasn’t he untouchable a few years back. They say Karma is a ##@@$$^

    • when are you going to admit…
when are you going to admit that majority of our people in Kenya are the most corrupt? You really believe IEBC can function as an independent entity without political elites & tribals meddling? It’s up to an individual to pretend and support a corrupt election or walk away. She chose to walk away. Election rigging in Kenya has always been a chronic cancer, from Moi”s era to the current regime. Don’t pretend like you don’t know how our government functions. What would you have done yourself if at all you have some shred of integrity? You are the same people who often complain of corruptions in Kenya, what has changed?

      • Strongly agree. Kenyan’s…
Strongly agree. Kenyan’s here are acting like their country has been perfect and free of corruptions. IEBC commissioners are the most abused and deserve our support and prayers.

        • Nobody is acting anyway ,…
Nobody is acting anyway , for the longest time we have been here , don’t know how long you have been reading Mwakilishi, majority of us have been condemning that vice every day. The question here is not corruption, the question is when one team pretends and key word pretends to fight for mwananchi, to uphold themselves with utmost integrity , then in the end it turns out they were more evil than anyone thought and they are caught with their pants down whether you admit it or not. Then we have issues. I call bullshit when I see it , I call coup if I smell it, if 1+1 is not equals 2 , you cna disguise corruption in the midst but what Supreme Court did, Akembo , Orengo side dish and other corrupt ways to get power and doing anything to get it even if the country goes to hell, then we have issues. The other team use corruption as n umbrella to hoodwink followers when they are as corrupt if not even more. Kenya is corrupt from mama mboga , bodaboda guy to the top, so start with grassroots all the way to the top not selective condemnations. In those opposition grounds we have read and seen what corruption looks like. SO this holier than thou my side is better than the other side is bullshit, you know it and I know it!

It’s better to flee than end up Chris Msando way. Choose your battle smartly.

    • Mkenya Halisi, sasa mimi iko…
Mkenya Halisi, sasa mimi iko beef na wewe. let me talk kienglish = kikuyu English. Now rii, you have been preaching for us to invest huko nyandarua, ngurie, you see these politiks how they bring ma problems. Here I was saying maybe wacha nijaribu ka ploti hapo chaka sijui kiganjo, overlooking Mt Kenya,no riu ri, if every 5 years we have to be going through this, these investment thingys may not be so conducive. I was secretly planning to drop a ka nice hse overlooking mt Kenya , with my few cows or horses( yes a horse galloping on a ranch is not a bad idea at all ), some wild foes, a nice ka swimming pool for familia but now with this kind of politics, you see why some of us are still wary and investing majuu is more certain . The political uncertainty makes most of us risk averse. Maoni ?

      • Fg2, before mkh answers back…
Fg2, before mkh answers back, here is my take. There is no investment destination that is without risk, whether it is majuu or 254. Focusing on 254, my take is that the political risk is lessened by where you choose to live. E.g. if you are like Guest1 you come from “Nyeri”, then I see little political risk if you settle in Chaka. You probably would need to invest more in (theft) security, rather than worry that some goons will be demonstrating in your neighbourhood demanding RAO (assuming he’s prezzo) must go. For cash flow you could look into building rentals in the town near you or in some parts of the bigger cities. Off course avoid the likes Kibra (politics), mathare(politics and economics) and Dadonch/some Kayole (economics & security). In short, I am saying is that even though we have to go through this crap every 5 years, the sh*t is not uniformly everywhere & opportunities still exist for the brave and adventurous. Don’t give up on 254 because of the likes of Akombe.

        • Maraga ( if only you wouldn…
Maraga ( if only you wouldn’t call yourself that lol)- You are right I suppose , investments are risky anywhere in the world even little known Papua Guinea, however if there is a pattern that every 5 years we have to be holding tight coz violence may not be in Central BUT the trickle effect however small is felt through the uncertainity and the flow of good and services. We are not yet mature enough for a county to be fully sufficient so if there is any disruptions in Central Govt , the infrastructure etc , however safe or far away removed from the site, we will still feel it. It is like here, if you are building something or shipping something from Wisconsin and there is a snow storm in mid west , no matter what , that will affect your shipment or other services coming from that side of US. For the most part, Kenya is co-dependant of each other, no county can fully be independent of BUT I like your idea

  5. If the job she had in UN…
If the job she had in UN require security clearance she might not get it back. Those who do clearance will dig to know the truth.

  6. All of you are behaving like…
All of you are behaving like those hooligans on the street lynching everybody in the name of a ghost call uncle or dad or father or baba.your contributions here is partisan ,but the thing is Ms AKombe is a sellout.real traitor to the whole Kenyans.she had an opportunity to come out earlier and say what she knows.why say when it’s 7 days to the elections it’s because you are paid by the devil to cause chaos in your country. I thought you were my learned friend but you are worse than standard one kid.you have messed the country by your fake patriotic gesture.you have been paid by NASA and soro.you can’t hide please.you know better .America is a country like any other.so don’t be fooled by your dual citizenship

  7. My concern is what should…
My concern is what should happen now that one of the insiders has said that IEBC cannot deliver credible and fair elections. These revelation should be treated as critical information.Do we now disband the current staff, defer elections,or continue with elections on October 26th mindful the potential chaos that might follow? Isay, scrap the current IEBC,and postpone elections. Once a credible electorial monitoring agency has been created and appoved by all concerned parties, then an election date should be pronounced.Let’s not hurry, and do it right.

  8. Formerly guest 1 bro this…
Formerly guest 1 bro this shit of chaos every 5 yrs is about to end on 26th when we send this devo woshipa stinking violence old man home.Furthomore as someone told u dwn there don’t invest in kisumu or western at all unless ur a mad man coz they will burn yr properties or refuse to pay, again andu a nyumba invest only in venters land mount Kenya region where ur assured that yr properties will b interact.Diaspora guys some of us have invested heavily in Kenya so don’t relax or get disappointed ,please do invest.I remember I lost 3 houses in Philadelphia/New Jersey during recession so it’s like Kenya is back.Any country goes for its shit when the time comes.Did u see tsunami in Japan,I was there this year n pple have started to rebuild so risk is everywhere but the good thing about jamhuri is u know where not to invest.JALUO LAND.

Anonymous…we tiga, si umezisoma pia! Ati twe ndurika? LOL! Your comments sometimes take me back and in stitches. Had a vision of my cucu who would utter exact words if she found us playing whilst there was plenty of chores to be attended to, and that would be with a fleshy chunk of our cheeks pinched between her fingers. Kaka, memories…. priceless!! Always refreshing when you inject such humour!

Akombe is an Educated Kenyan woman.
Threatening someone’s life just for a JOB!!! A JOB!!!
Msando got killed and his hand got chopped because of a JOB!!
To hell with stupid Jobs that get people killed.
    Akombe will get another job.
    Good for her.

  13. No, she is a Kenyan educated…
No, she is a Kenyan educated mercenary. Someone called her a call girl; for Orengo and others who want to destroy Kenya.. As we speak, Akombe is displaying her fresh in the beaches of Olando. Kenyans are waiting with bated breath, praying for God’s divine intervention to save Kenya from her evil designs. She misled the Chair, The commission, the plenary and finally the Supreme Court where she sneaked fake documents with Muli and Orengo. All this time she was working with Raila and the foreigners to destroy Kenya. She was ready to run like she did. What will happen to all of us who can’t run from our Country? Will the call Girl accommodate us in her USA mansion bought with blood money.
