Kenya Airways Introduces Direct Flights to South Africa

Kenya Airways has launched three direct flights to Cape Town, South Africa every week.

The non-stop flights will leave Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi to the South African city every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 3:30pm EAT.

Speaking on Wednesday, Kenya Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Vincent Coste said the launch is part of the airline’s plan to assert its presence in the continent and boost trade and tourism.

“We are indeed very proud to increase our frequencies to South Africa to cater for the growing number of our customers who travel between Nairobi and Cape Town,” Kenya Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Vincent Coste said.

“In addition to enhancing Africa integration, this new route will be beneficial to the tourism industry as it establishes vital links with our global network.”

Prior to the direct flights launch, KQ operated seven weekly flights to Cape Town, four of them operating via Livingstone, Zambia and depart Nairobi every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The other three weekly flights flew to Cape Town via the resort town of Victoria Falls, Zambia every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

“Kenya and South Africa are important trading partners. A number of South African firms have expanded into Kenya while thousands of Kenyans are frequent travellers to South Africa,” Coste said.
