Rodrick Lodge, 69, has returned to London after a harrowing experience in Nairobi that left him emotionally and financially devastated.
The former United Nations official had fallen victim to an elaborate romance scam that cost him his life savings of Sh15 million (approximately £90,000). The ordeal began last summer when a close friend introduced Lodge to a woman named Anita, purportedly a 39-year-old Kenyan mother of two. Anita painted a compelling picture of her life, claiming to reside in the affluent Karen neighbourhood while overseeing the construction of a retirement home in Voi, Taita Taveta County.
Captivated by the prospect of love and settled life, Lodge, a widower, eagerly volunteered to assist with the house’s completion. Blinded by his emotions, Lodge made the fateful decision to transfer his entire life savings to Anita, believing he was investing in their shared future. However, his dreams of companionship were soon shattered when it became apparent that Anita was a fictitious persona created by a skilled fraudster. The realization left Lodge stranded in Nairobi with his tourist visa nearing expiration and his financial resources depleted.
Fortunately, Lodge’s plight caught the attention of Kenyan media which brought his story to light. Former colleagues from his time working for a major airline learned of his predicament and rallied to his aid. In a display of compassion and solidarity, they pooled their resources to secure Lodge a flight back to London. On Tuesday morning, Lodge boarded the plane, leaving behind the bitter disappointment and heartache he had experienced in Nairobi. Lodge has announced his intention to share his story with a London-based media outlet, hoping to garner further support and chart a path towards rebuilding his life.
Reflecting on his ordeal, Lodge acknowledges that he had been blindsided by the promise of love. He admits to not conducting due diligence before emptying his bank account, a decision he now deeply regrets. As he returns to London, Lodge carries with him the painful lessons learned from his Nairobi experience.
Cursed is “Anita and her 2…
Cursed is “Anita and her 2 Kids” up to her 3rd and 4 Generation. *BLESSed be Mr. Lodge?; for Being a BLESSing to the UnGreatful?.
There is no Anita par see!…
There is no Anita par see! It was a well orchestrated scam to drain the money from the somewhat clueless Unitated Nations former worker! He should have known better if at all he had worked in Nairobi.
How do you empty your bank account without checking and verifying where the money is going??? A lesson well learned by the victim and to those from England who maybe looking for piece of black black ass in Kenya and Africa in general. Black women have become the worst scammers in the world. You can’t trust them because they are greedy and merciless.
The women in Kenya are 110% worse than prostitutes in the streets of London or New York. It is no longer business as usual dealing with the African women for romance or anything in-between. They are all cons! Why go looking for a women in Kenya while Europe is flooded is honest gorgeous women?
There is a ton-load of Ukraine, Russia, East Europe, Thailand, Fillipines, etc who are genuinely looking for love. I dont sympathize with Lodge one bit!
