Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has disputed the Kamwene meetings organized by leaders from the Mt Kenya region in the Azimio coalition, headed by Martha Karua of NARC Kenya.
Kalonzo has expressed his belief that the forum veers away from the initial objective of Azimio and promotes individualism, potentially causing tribal divisions within the coalition. He describes the forum as lacking vitality from its inception and urges his fellow colleagues to remain united in Azimio and present a unified stance. Kalonzo shared these views during his appearance on KTN News. The Kamwene Leaders Forum serves as a platform for leaders from the Mt Kenya region to address various concerns affecting their locality.
“Kamwene” is a Kikuyu word meaning “the owner”. In addition to Martha Karua, Kamwene comprises other individuals such as former Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, embattled Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, and Party of National Unity leader Peter Munya. Meanwhile, Karua questions her curiosity as to why Kalonzo persistently mentions Kamwene in every discussion.
Kalonzo has also tackled the issue of potential divisions within the Azimio coalition arising from contrasting stances on the NADCO report. He refutes these allegations, highlighting the natural occurrence of differing perspectives among party leaders. “Our opposition remains resilient. Although we may encounter disagreements, we are offering alternative remedies to the Kenyan people. Our journey has just commenced. Ruto has yet to witness what lies ahead,” he says.
“The opposition is ready to engage in serious matters like the cost of living. However, the reason the cost of living did not appear in the National Dialogue committee report is because we agreed to disagree,” adds Kalonzo.
