Kabarak High School has emerged as the leading performer in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, maintaining its impressive track record.

According to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, Kabarak School has achieved a mean score of 10.43. Despite being a private school, Kabarak has outperformed many public national and extra-county schools in terms of academic performance. The school takes pride in the significant number of students who have achieved outstanding grades, including 62 with an A grade, 155 with an A-, 102 with a B+, 60 with a B grade, 18 with a B-, and four with a C+. This means that every student in the school is eligible for university admission.

Taking the runner-up position is Mudasa Academy, hailing from Vihiga County, with a mean score of 10.4. Trailing closely behind is Kapsabet Boys High School, boasting a mean score of 10.2. Despite the Ministry of Education’s decision to discontinue school and candidate rankings, preliminary data discloses the leading schools in different regions. At the time of this report, Kenya High School has achieved the highest average score among girls’ schools, an impressive 9.948.

Chemelil Sugar Academy (9.89), Kiage Tumaini Boys’ High School (9.745), Maranda High School (9.578), Maseno School (9.543), Loreto High School Limuru (9.54), and Friends School Kamusinga (9.36501) were among the top-performing schools in the recently released results. Unfortunately, we did not receive the analyzed results for perennial top performers such as Mang’u High School, Alliance High School, Alliance Girls High School, Precious Blood Riruta, Mary Hill Girls High School, and Bishop Gatimu Girls High School, Ngandu.

The administration of Nyambaria High School, which had the highest mean score in the 2022 edition, had not yet released the analyzed results as of last evening. During the administration of the exams, the school’s principal was suspended as a centre manager due to allegations of examination irregularities. The KCSE results showed an increase in the number of candidates who qualified for university admission.

However, upon closer analysis, there was a decline in the grades achieved by the candidates. For instance, 1,216 candidates scored a mean grade of A plain, a slight increase from the 1,146 candidates who achieved As in 2022. In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic struck, schools were forced to shut down just as the candidate class had joined Form One.
