Renowned gospel artist Daddy Owen, also known as Owen Mwatia, recently caught people’s attention when he shared photos of President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto visiting his mother in Kakamega.
Kenyans have been captivated by the intriguing dynamics of their connection, craving further insight. Although news about Charlene’s visit made its rounds a few days back, Daddy Owen opted for silence. However, on January 2, he chose to break his silence, unveiling a collection of photographs capturing Charlene’s visit to Eshieywe, while reminiscing on the memorable moments of his 2023 journey.
“2023 was an incredible year! I am grateful to God! Among the many memorable moments, the pinnacle was when Charlene Ruto visited my home in Eshieywe, also known as Kakamega,” Daddy Owen revealed.
The award-winning singer proceeded to recount the specifics of that special day, describing the festivities filled with music, dance, and the traditional Isikuti drum made from the sturdy “imbulu” skin. Owen also underscored the significance of the traditional delicacies savoured by Charlene and the esteemed guests during their visit, including the delicious “amakwakwata” and the mouthwatering “lhisebhebhe.”
In his statement, Daddy Owen expressed his mother’s delight in hosting the President’s daughter. He emphasised her affinity for and respect for guests in the village of Ebhusang’ang’a. There has been a great deal of curiosity and a desire for clarification regarding the nature of Owen and Charlene’s relationship. This interest has persisted for weeks, even after Daddy Owen addressed the speculations and made it clear that they are simply good friends.
He stressed the importance of their bond being focused on collaborative efforts to uplift the community. Despite speculation about their relationship due to their public appearances, like attending a basketball game together in November, Daddy Owen reaffirmed in an interview with Milele FM that they are exclusively collaborating on different projects. He emphasized that being seen with someone does not always indicate a romantic involvement.
