I Did Not See Babu Owino With Gun, Says DJ Evolve
Felix Orinda Alias DJ Evolve Testifies Virtually From Home During the Defence Hearing of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino

Felix Orinda, alias DJ Evolve, testified in a Nairobi court that he did not witness Embakasi East MP Babu Owino (Paul Ongili) holding a gun at a local club on the day he was shot.

Orinda informed the Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi that he and Owino were at B Club and had a peaceful conversation like old acquaintances. He added that he had known Owino since 2014 and had no history of quarrels.

“When I met Owino, he had no gun at the Club and I never saw a firearm that shot me. I was having conversations and the next thing I was in a vehicle going to the hospital. I did not see where the bullet came from,” Orinda testified.

Orinda was testifying in defence of Babu Owino, who is accused of misusing a gun that was linked to a shooting incident at a club in 2020. The DJ also confirmed to the court that Owino has been assisting him since the incident. Owino’s second witness, Edwin Otieno, also confirmed to the court that the MP’s firearm had malfunctioned after a prior range session. Otieno said that at the time of the event, he was serving as the personal guard and assistant to the lawmaker. On that fateful day, Otieno said he had asked Owino to take the gun to be inspected as it had a technical issue.

Otieno stated that he and MP Owino went to the club where the latter took two cans of energy drink and water. He said that when they left at 5 am, he instructed the security guard, Charles Otieno, to give Owino the firearm. He denied that Owino used the gun because it’s impossible to return it to the owner before they leave the club. Additionally, he mentioned that it is impossible for a jammed gun to fire.

  1. This desperate young man is…
This desperate young man is worried about how he will survive if his attacker goes to prison. He has been surviving on his attacker’s handouts and has now been persuaded to give testimony that will let his abuser off the hook. Such is the magnitude of poverty and desperation in our society that victims of violence and abuse will readily worship their attackers and abusers for the morsels that they get. So sad.
