Alfred Mutua

Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Dr Alfred Mutua held a State meeting with Canada Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly where they conferred Trade relations between the two countries.

The Cabinet Secretary met with the minister in Montréal, Quebec where they discussed the achieved progress in their common goals as enriched in the Kenya-Canada Bilateral Commission. Dr Mutua said that they intend to push for free trade agreement that will see Kenyan products like avocados and mangoes access the Canadian market. The CS said that they plan to achieve this by jumpstarting the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPPA).

Kenya is keen to attract Canadian investors while also focusing to increase their outward investment to the latter. According to Dr Mutua, Canada is open for immigration and Kenya remains devoted to utilizing the opportunity. During the official visit, Mutua and Joly agreed to create opportunities for Kenyans to work and live in Canada. The CS said that he will push for the prospects further by discussing with Hon. Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.

“I’m delighted to welcome Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua to Canada and to my hometown. As our two countries will be celebrating 60 years of bilateral relations, our bonds are stronger than ever. Kenya is an important partner to Canada and we are committed to advancing shared priorities together to build more peaceful and prosperous communities across the globe.” said Melanie Joly.

The Cabinet Secretary also discussed their bilateral peacekeeping priorities in the Horn of Africa and Haiti. On Haiti, the two leaders agreed to help Haiti have an effective police force.

  3. WHY MANY PEOPLE OF THE WORLD…
WHY MANY PEOPLE OF THE WORLD DREAM OF COMING and SETTLING IN THE USA

    Brother Mutua:

You are busy looking for jobs elsewhere instead of focusing on creating jobs in Kenya.

    SOLUTION – SULUHISHO

Learn from the USA business community what they have done economically and make an effort to duplicate the same principles in Kenya.

    1. Lower the taxes domestically and encourage the local and international entrepreneurs to start local businesses that will offer job opportunities to the millions of the unemployed youth in the country.
    2. Encourage efficiency and accountability in government and the private sectors in the country.
    3. Demand zero tolerance on corruption and nepotism. Guess what! I have not paid a single cent in the USA in order to obtain “basic services” that are needed for survival.
    4. Encourage the use of the national language (Kiswahili) in all public and private sectors of the community. This will create a positive atmosphere where all Kenyans feel a sense of belonging to the country instead of only two micro nations as it is at the moment.
    5. Encourage all Kenyans to use their cell phones to document inappropriate habits such as: arrogance, rudeness, inefficiency, and corruption whenever and wherever it occurs. This will entice foreign companies to relocate to Kenya to establish their businesses and thereafter create jobs.
    6. Politeness, courtesy, and being on time is a prerequisite for creating a positive atmosphere for establishing business opportunities in the country.
    7. Commercial and technical institutes should be established everywhere in the country in order to provide auxiliary services that are basic to the functioning of a country.
    8. Duplicate the US business approach in Kenya and surely, there will be no need for the Kenyans to go elsewhere in search of job opportunities. Why? The Kenyan climate is more friendly and appropriate to mankind that the freezing temperatures found in the extreme Northern countries of the world.
Finally, I would like to share with you the words of wisdom of the first and late President of Tanzania Mwalimu Kambarage Borito Nyerere, who once said, “It can be done, play your part.”

All Kenyans must play their part by working together as brothers and sisters. We must create a friendly atmosphere devoid of religion, politics, and nepotism. We must create an environment where the sense of RESPONSIBILY AND ACCOUNTABLITY is required everywhere in the country, 24/7.

  4. Focus on creating jobs…
Focus on creating jobs locally Mr. Dr. Mutua!!!!! That’s a show of laziness in terms of development agenda that our leaders should be focusing on, not just earning hefty salaries for ZERO work.
    Bure kabisa!!

  5. Dr Mutual!, The World ? is…
Dr Mutual!, The World ? is heading where it’s heading because there’s a root from the background of your grassroots. 6. Mutua behaves like he has…
Mutua behaves like he has never lived in foreign countries. Many world countries are laying off workers because of economic hardship. Mutua is promising non existent jobs abroad to poorly educated Kenyans in kenya. Huyu karau ni mjinga sana. Why lie to desperate jobless Kenyans!? Put a list of the jobs you are talking about here so that Kenyans can select out of the list. Wacha hiyo Kamba Kamuti ya urongo!
