Governor Sakaja Vows to Protect Nairobi from Azimio Mass Action

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has vowed to protect the property, businesses, and lives of city residents from the planned mass action by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition.

Speaking during a church service at Jesus Winners Ministry on Sunday, Sakaja said his administration will not allow the Raila Odinga-led coalition and its supporters to disrupt business in the capital.

“Everything has its own time. Kenyans are tired of politics; voting was already done, and the winner is in place,” Sakaja said.

“I will not allow anybody’s property, business, or life in Nairobi to be destroyed. Many people are going through difficult times, and we cannot allow that to worsen,” he added.

The first-term governor called on the opposition to engage in dialogue instead of confrontation.

“All of this cannot be accomplished through chest-thumping; even the Bible says, ‘Let us come together and reason,’ though this does not imply a handshake,” he said.

Last month, Odinga vowed to lead countrywide mass action in 14 days if Ruto’s administration fails to honor the opposition coalition’s demands for changes in the formula for selecting new IEBC commissioners and lowering the cost of living, among others.

ODM communications director Philip Etale said on Sunday that the anti-government protests will commence after the 14-day ultimatum elapses this Wednesday.

He said the first rally would be in Migori on Friday followed by Narok on Saturday, Mombasa on Sunday followed by Kilifi on Monday.

  1. Looters and disruptors for…
Looters and disruptors for hire have been idle lately since the handshake. Jubilee has not been having a reason to hire them. I am sure a few millions from Ruto’s State House will grease their palms real good and trust me folks, when they take aim, that rock will not miss a business’ establishment window and those sticky fingers will be able to grab 4 flat screens with ease.
