Itumbi, Kidero, Jaguar, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru Among Candidates Shortlisted for CAS Positions

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has shortlisted 224 candidates to fill the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) from a list of 5,183 applicants.

President Ruto’s digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, and former nominated senator Millicent Omanga are among those shortlisted for the coveted post.

Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru, former Starehe MP Charles Jaguar, journalist Mwanaisha Chidzuga, MacDonald Mariga, Wilson Sossion, Caleb Kositany and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru are also on the list released on Monday.

Others include former MPs John Muchiri and Isaac Mwaura and former governors; Evans Kidero (Nairobi), Patrick Khaemba (Trans Nzoia), James Ongwae (Kisii) and John Mruttu (Taita Taveta).

Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici also made the list.

The shortlist comes barely a week after the court dismissed a case filed by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) challenging the legality of the position.

The Employment and Labor Relations Court noted that PSC followed the correct procedure in setting up the office.

Justice Monica Mburu said PSC had the mandate to establish CAS positions as part of public service reforms.

The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at the PSC office in Nairobi starting on March 1st.
