Uhuru to Pocket a Sh39.6 Million Send-off Package

President Kenyatta is set to pocket a Sh39.6 million send-off package once he exits office this week after serving the country for the past 10 years.

Capital News reported that Kenyatta, who will formally hand over instruments of power to his successor on Tuesday, will also receive a monthly pension of Sh1.32 million for the rest of his life.

The Presidential Retirement Benefits Act of 2013 states that a president is entitled to a once-off payment on retirement equal to one year’s salary for every term they served.

Kenyatta, who came into office in 2013, was earning Sh1.23 million per month with an increase of Sh103,125 every year.

Further to these, the outgoing president will also be entitled to a fuel allowance of Sh216,563, Sh332,063 as his monthly house allowance, a monthly entertainment allowance of Sh200,000, and Sh379,500 in monthly electricity, telephone and water bills.

Other benefits include a fully-furnished office with the necessary personnel that he may require, six security officers, and four vehicles replaceable every three years.

Jamani?

  2. What a waste of public…
What a waste of public resources, when over ninety percent of Kenyans cannot afford to put food on the table, for their families. Extravagance! Just how much does an African call enough? When teh IMF or the World Bank reads this, am very sure read mischief and greediness of the highest order. Africans and Africa, no wonder white people detest, ridicule and look them down as people with low IQ. Ati Ksh200000 entertainment allowance. When will he ever spend his own money? I pray he drench himself in Sh600000 Jonny Walker whisky and follow the late queen to Baltimore or Baltimoral. May the Lord’s mercy reach every struggling Wanjiku.

We followed supreme court ruling, in the same token he will receive that money minus the power. Good for him and his family.

Certainly we cannot allow our former presidents to be destitute. But surely isn’t that gravy package a bit too burdensome on tax payers?
Here is where i get disappointed in our men and women of the cloth. What they should be doing is urging whoever drafted that package to reconsider…Is it ‘godly’ for one person to have that much for just retiring?Mindful that while he was president his bills were being paid, plus a huge salary to bout.
How about just making sure that our former president is taken care of should he need anything?Just like we do for the Pope.

    • The Men and Women in Cloth…
The Men and Women in Cloth can NOT Function well Without the GOD you Maxiley loathes. You here Hate to Hear or See people Mention GOD and Youu then Talk about Men and Women of Cloth? Maxiley you’re so Confused and so Confusing.

@ MsonoBari, let me clear the confusion. The concept of God has existed in all human societies. And has afunction of trying to answer the unknown. To that end, Idont mind religions people putting people at easy by their M.O.of trying to answer the unknowns. Remember these are just beliefs, and if they can bring peace in the country,Iam good with that , however ridiculous they may be to me. I liken this to a doctor “prescribing” a plasibo to apatient. If the patient gets healed and believes the “medcine” healed them.Fine by me. Sure, men and women of the cloth have a role to play in society, whether I believe in them or not.
