Google Poaches Kenya’s Jack Ngare from Microsoft

American tech giant Google has hired Kenyan Jack Ngare to join Google Cloud.

Ngare, who has over 15 years of experience in various business functions, joins Google Cloud as a technical director in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Prior to this appointment, Ngare served as the Managing Director of the Microsoft Africa Development Centre (ADC) in Kenya.

He previously worked at Finserve Africa as part of Equity Group, where he served in the capacity of Managing Director.

Ngare also held managerial positions at Stanbic Bank, NIC Bank, as well as spending seven years at British Telecom, with assignments in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Peru, and Japan.

“Google Cloud’s Office of the CTO not only helps our customers create their future with technology but also guides Google on what challenges the world’s enterprises are trying to solve,” said Google Cloud’s Chief Technology Officer Will Grannis.

“We are thrilled to have Jack join our growing team and bring his expertise to companies based in Kenya and around the world.”

Ngare boasts a wealth of in-depth knowledge in management, telecommunications, financial services, and emerging technology. 

“As Google Cloud builds its presence in Africa, I am honored to join this growing team to better support local businesses,” said Ngare on his appointment.

“With the growth of digitization, it is more important than ever to help companies use technology to modernise, scale, and reach their customers’ needs.”

Ngare holds a Master’s degree in management from Harvard University, a Master’s degree in advanced computer science, and a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Leicester.
