Dickson Njanja Mararo, who is accused of shooting two police officers and a waitress at Quiver’s Lounge in Nairobi has been released on bail.
Milimani Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu on Thursday granted the accused a bail of Sh5 million or an alternative bond of Sh10 million with one contact person.
He was also ordered to deposit his passport with the court and barred from interfering with witnesses in the case. Magistrate Kimilu further ordered that the accused person should never be issued with a firearm.
Mararo is charged with the attempted murder of police officers Festus Musyoka and Lawrence Muturi and waitress Felistus Nzisa by shooting them at Quiver’s Lounge along Thika Road on July 2nd, 2021.
The court heard that one of the victims (Musyoka) was still admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU), with his medical bill now standing at Sh5.7 million. The other two victims were treated and discharged.
The 25-year-old defendant is alleged to have shot and wounded the three victims following a fight over a woman.
Through his lawyer Cliff Ombeta, Mararo said he will try to have the matter settled out of court once he is out on bail. Mararo, who turned himself in following the shooting incident, has been under police custody for the past four weeks.
The case will be mentioned on September 30th.
