Police are searching for a German man suspected to have murdered his Kenyan girlfriend before escaping.
24-year-old Cynthia Anyango Otieno was found dead on Wednesday night in an apartment she lived together with Krabbe Dietter Gunther in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.
Gunther, a German national aged 58, was reportedly seen leaving the apartment carrying two bags before the lifeless body of Anyango was found lying on the bed. The two are reported to have had an altercation.
Kilifi South Sub-County Police Commander Mohammed Wako said the deceased was living alone in the apartment since December last year until recently when Gunther joined her.
“Blood was still oozing from the nose and mouth when we found it. We are looking for Gunther for questioning,” said Wako.
“We have circulated the details of the suspect to police stations countrywide to aid in tracing the suspect who is a person of interest as of now.”
An alien German card bearing the suspect’s name and other details was found in Anyango’s house.
Police believe the foreigner forgot to pack the card as he made haste to leave the apartment following the murder of Anyango.
