Top-Performing School Under Watch Over Alleged Plot to Use Experts to Write KCSE Exam

A top-performing school in Western Kenya is being closely monitored by the Ministry of Education over an alleged plot to cheat in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam, which commenced on Monday.

Education CS Prof. George Magoha says the ministry received intelligence that the school had made plans to have experts sit for the national examination.

Speaking on Monday, he alleged that the school principal had brought in some experts to live in the teachers’ quarters with a view of writing KCSE examination on behalf of students.

The plan would allegedly involve papers getting smuggled from examination rooms, with the experts filling the answers before they are taken back.

“The information is worrying and there are officers on the ground who are pursuing the matter. We will get the principal once the information is found to be true.  The school is a popular one and usually performs well in national examinations,” Magoha said.

Magoha spoke in Kenol in Murang’a County where he supervised the opening and distribution of KCSE examination materials.

He further warned school heads against transporting examination materials in private cars and instead used school buses or government vehicles.

“Government has many vehicles which can be used to deliver examination papers. We don’t want to hear of a case where a private car is used to transport the papers. Private schools can use their buses and every center manager must be accompanied by two police officers as security,” he added.

Atop performing school in Western Kenya. This should not be hard to decipher. My concern is that the gate is being closed after the horse has left the staple…
Is there anyway of going back to check the validity of past performance?
So horrible on all fronts. Teachers who are supposed to instill discipline, ethics, and hard work are involved in undermining these tenets of excellence. And without mentioning, Iam sure parents are also involved in these scam.
Unfortunately this is what happens when we start worshiping money. We have shaped a society where by its existence is the creation of money.Alot of it.The more the better.Ethics and integrity is almost frowned upon.
Who is to blame? I guess the devil…
