Kenyans Warned Against Provoking Police Officers and Posting Videos Online

Inspector-General of Police Hilary Mutyambai has warned members of the public against provoking police officers.

Mutyambai in his New Year message raised alarm over the rising cases of Kenyans provoking law enforcement officers and posting their reactions on social media.

He warned citizens that such actions could land them in trouble since police officers are mandated to perform their duties firmly.

“We have in the recent past experienced cases of attacks on police officers on duty by members of the public who are either challenging the rule of law or simply expressing self-conceited acts of arrogance,” said Mutyambai.

He added: “Their modus operandi is to upload videos on social media to ridicule the NPS and subject innocent officers to the unforgiving court of public opinion.”

The police head’s remarks come a week after traffic police officers were filmed beating up a motorist and journalist along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Mutyambai defended the officers after a video of the incident went viral online, sparking outrage from social media users.

Contrary to reports that the officers hit the motorist’s vehicle, the Inspector-General said the driver was caught overlapping.

“Members of the public who witnessed the incident volunteered to record statements. The video circulating has not shown the full incident as it occurred. The IG has warned members of the public against assaulting police officers in uniform and on duty,” Mutyambai said through Twitter.

  1. Maybe huyu,Nzoki might comes…
Maybe huyu,Nzoki might comes to Kenya as a tourist. How can a whole police boss even think of unarmed Kenyan provoking a ready to kill murderer/policeman,a.k.a,a Raila whose hobby is killing other humanbeings?I suggest he wear a makanga uniform tonight(6.00pm-9.00pm) and start loaming in Nairobi streets around River Road to TEA ROOM to REKE MARIE BAR to the CHANGAA DEN to MORDERN GREEN BAR to KARUMAINDO(SABINA JOY) BAR to TUSKER & COMMERCIAL STANGES where he will witness all types of inhuman treatment and violent behavior of his boys.He might be one of their victims.

  2. Police should stop provoking…
    Police should stop provoking Kenyans.

They always provoke people and now they’re being exposed.

  3. Wearing a Chinese uniform…
Wearing a Chinese uniform and practicing Chinese methods of subduing what they consider dissent. A journalist who reported on the Covid epidemic in Wuhan was recently jailed for 4 years. Mutyambai is trying to suppress reporting purported police conduct.

  4. The guy even looks stupid…
The guy even looks stupid. Listening to him makes you wonder how he got the job but it’s Uhuru’s Kenya and he fits a pattern.

    • There were more qulified…
There were more qulified cops than Nzioki. He got the job on so-called tribal representation-to represent MuKamba/KAMUTI.But like Uhuru,Raila,Ruto,Joho,Maraga,Nyong etc none of them shares loot gains with their tribesmen.Ask a MuKamba near you whether he even knows Mutyambai rakes shs 2m.daily from Nairobi matatus alone.

  5. Fellow Kenyans, listen to me…
    Fellow Kenyans, listen to me:

By all means, DO NOT provoke or attack the police. Do your best and cooperate ALL the time
But policemen and women are public servants and some in their ranks are rotten to the core – they lack common decency and will physically attack otherwise innocent citizens without provocation as in the case of this past encounter the senior boss is talking about. BY ALL MEANS, PLEASE VIDEO RECORD SUCH INJUSTICE. It remains the only way the citizenry can fight pervasive police brutality. Mutyambai’s call not to video record should be a wake up call for all responsible citizens. Please RECORD!
