Slain Nairobi Businessman Kevin Omwenga Laid to Rest in Emotional Sendoff as Family Demands Justice

The family of slain Nairobi-based businessman Kevin Omwenga has demanded justice for their son who was shot dead under unclear circumstances.

Omwenga, 28, was laid to rest in an emotional sendoff at the family’s rural home in Kitutu Chache, Kisii County on Saturday.

“Let justice be done for my brother. I raised Kevin after the death of our father. The one who shot you knows why he did so. God will deal with him in his best way,” his brother Wycliffe Omwenga said during the funeral.

Omwenga, who was a car dealer, was shot in his house at Galana Suites apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi on August 21st.

The deceased’s brother Wycliff told police that he was in the kitchen preparing dinner when he heard a gunshot emanating from the bedroom.

He rushed there where he saw Robert Bodo—the main suspect—leaving in a hurry and found his brother lying on his back with blood oozing from his chest when he entered the bedroom. Wycliff rushed him to Nairobi Women’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Bodo was arrested the following day and led the police to Senteu Plaza located near Galana Suits where a pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

The firearm believed to be the murder weapon was found kept in a safe in an office belonging to Chris Obure, a businessman. Bodo works as a personal bodyguard of Obure, who was also arrested in connection to the killing.

A postmortem showed the bullet that killed Omwenga hit him from a close range, piercing through his heart and left lung, killing him instantly.

The autopsy conducted by chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor also released the bullet was discharged from a high position.

A Nairobi court last week allowed police to hold Obure and Bodo for 12 days pending completion of investigations on the matter.

  1. Mob justice is the only true…
Mob justice is the only true answer to kill those who kill others for no reason – that is the way justice can be achieved because real justice have become the preserve of the wealthy and the politically connected individuals!

The judiciary and its judges have been bribed by the lawyers of those who killed! They will all turn justice for Omwenga to be a verdict for the killers with money! M

Kenyans – my biggest question is simply this one – are we going to let omwenga vanish in death while the killers continue to walk the streets? We can force the government to take quick action is we killed several killers in revenge of our loved ones!

Let us take the law in our hands and do what is right for the late Imwenga and other victims of crime! That is the only way Maraga and his click will listen and do something! Let us act with precision because we know where the killers are hiding. We can star with burning down Chris Obure’s office today!

  2. The people have the power to…
The people have the power to stop senseless killings like the murder of Omwenga, Kenei, etc! It does not matter who the killer is eg DP Ruto, Chris Obure, etc! Yes, the people have the power to stop this madness!

How long are we going to assume that the judiciary will lender a fair trial!? How long? People have the power to apply alternative justice, and also stop the madness we are seeing every where in the country! We are very tired of innocent Kenyans getting gunned down by thugs! We the people can do something to stop this nonsense!

  3. We emotionally talk about…
We emotionally talk about these murders every time these murders happen and within a week we forget about those who got killed! We have been talking about these murders for a long time and no one takes any action(s)!

The citizen are left without a choice to defend ourselves while these murders continue to happen at a rapid speed! Are we gonna let this kind of stuff to go on or are we willing to stop them henceforth!

If thousands of Kenyans armed themselves and went on the streets demanding answers of those who have been killed, we can easily get the answers we are looking for! At some point, the only way to put out fire is to light a bigger fire ? next to it!

The hose who are killing others must be put on an urgent notice – that if you kill one, we are coming for you and your families! This is the only left option we can use to stop these killers!

We must instill fear of death in their blossoms and it must be carried out to bring normalcy in our society! There should be no peace if there is no justice! The government has failed to protect us; so we must protect ourselves!
