The government has listed 23 areas in the counties of Nairobi and Mombasa as Covid-19 hotspots.
The two counties account for more than 90 percent of the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country, according to the Ministry of Health.
In Nairobi County, nine constituencies including Dagoretti North, Kamukunji, Langata, Kibra, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Embakasi East, Westlands, and Makadara, have been identified as hotspots due to the high number of Covid-19 recorded there.
Dagoretti North sub-County has 30 confirmed positive cases of the virus spread out across five estates namely; Kawangware with 13cases, Kilimani (6), Kileleshwa (5), Hurlingham (3), and Lavington (3).
Eastleigh estate in Kamukunji constituency has 11 Covid-19 cases while South C and Karen estates in Langata constituency have 7 and 4 cases respectively.
Kibra constituency has 4 cases, which were all recorded in Kwa DC estate whereas Pipeline estate in Embakasi South has 6 coronavirus patients. Dandora in Embakasi North has 5 Covid-19 cases, while Utawala and Nyayo estates in Embakasi East constituency have 4 and 3 coronavirus patients respectively.
In Westlands sub-county, City Park, Manji Court, and Parklands estates have recorded 5 cases each while Buruburu in Makadara constituency has positive Covid-19 cases.
In Mombasa County, Mvita constituency has the highest cases of Covid-19 with 36. The cases were reported in the following estates; Old Town, Kuze, Bondeni, Memon, and Mlango wa Papa.
Likoni area has recorded 8 coronavirus patients while 11 cases were registered in Bamburi. As of Friday, May 1st, there were 411 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Kenya, 21 fatalities and 150 recoveries.
