Kenya’s Coronavirus Cases Rise to 126

Kenya on Saturday confirmed an additional four cases of coronavirus, raising the tally to 126.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a media briefing, said the new cases were detected from 372 samples tested in the past 24 hours.

Out of the four cases, three are Kenyans and one is a Pakistani national. They include three males and one female; all aged between 34 and 46 years.

CS Kagwe said two of the patients arrived in the country from Malawi while the other two contracted the disease locally.

So far, 1,886 out of the 2050 people who are under isolation in different facilities around the country have been tested for the virus, said Kagwe.

During the briefing, CS Kagwe blasted a section of Kenyans who have been disregarding the social distancing directive by holding house parties while under mandatory quarantine.

“Some have been sharing facilities and some not taking social distancing seriously. Some had partying sprees in quarantine,” he noted.

At the same time, Kagwe said the government has extended the quarantine period for those who may have come into contact with positive cases while under isolation.

Four out of the 126 Covid-19 patients have recovered while four have died.
