Uhuru Declares Saturday a National Prayer Day over Coronavirus Pandemic

Following the outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country, President Kenyatta has declared Saturday, March 21st as a national day of prayer.

Kenyatta said the function will be held at State House, Nairobi and will be presided over by a team of religious leaders.

“We cannot ignore the need to turn to God.  In these circumstances as we have done in the past as a nation, we have always turned to God first to give thanks for the many blessings that He has bestowed on our nation,” Uhuru said in a statement on Tuesday.

“But we also turn to God to share our fears, our apprehensions, but also to seek his guidance and ever-present protection. We acknowledge always that we are nothing without our God.”

Uhuru further assured the country that the government will continue to put up measures to keep Kenyans safe from the illness that has wreaked-havoc globally.

“Let us join hands together on Saturday. Let us pray for our country. Let us pray for our unity. Let us pray to see this pandemic resolved and let us pledge to love one another, to live in peace and harmony with each other and let us pray that the world will once again refocus itself on those things that are good, on those things that are virtuous, on those things that are peaceful.”

“And in this, I am guided by the following scripture and I will quote from St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians as read in the book of Philippians 4: 6 – 9, “Do not worry about anything instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then, you will experience God’s peace which exceeds anything we can ever understand. His peace will guide your hearts, your minds as you live in Christ Jesus,” Kenyatta added.

This comes after Kenya confirmed a new case of coronavirus on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections to four.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the patient arrived in Kenya from London, the United Kingdom on March 9th.

Social isolation. I hope he will invite less than 10 religious leaders – 1 Christian, 1 muslium, 1 Hindu, 1 Jew, 1 traditionalist. That all he needs 5 religious leaders, himself & Miggie.

  2. Kenyans pray all the time,…
Kenyans pray all the time, what they need is water.

    Clean WATER .
WATER WATER WATER ? is what Kenyans need.

      • I prayed for water and God…
I prayed for water and God told me the government of Kenya was given money to provide water to Kenyans.

The Kenyan government needs to provide clean drinking water to everyone living in kenya first.

Then the can tell people to wash their hands.

  3. How do you tell someone who…
How do you tell someone who cannot access water that they need to wash their hands? Someone who can’t access clean drinking water?

Most of Nairobi taps are dry. Most parts of Kenya have no clean drinking water.

The Kenyan government officials stole the money allocated to provision of water and now they are shamelessly telling Kenyans to wash their hands with IMAGINARY WATER!

The Kenyan government has no soul or no ounce of humanity and should be completely dismantled.

    • You don’t tell the person…
You don’t tell the person who has no access to water to wash their hand. Instead, you refer them to best practices to minimize the risk of exposure to Covid-19. They should decide to follow the guidelines. Remind the person about the possible consequences of not washing hands. They should then be able to make an informed choice.

  4. Ha ha ha like really? I’m…
Ha ha ha like really? I’m all for prayers etc but if Uhuru thinks this is the solution , he is dumber than I thought.

  5. We need action not prayers. …
We need action not prayers. Keep people in their homes and not on the streets. Prayers are not a solution for now. Smart choices like washing hands and keeping away from others are better choices. We Kenyans are intoxicated with prayers.

  6. Prayers is a Deflection. We…
Prayers is a Deflection. We should just have prayed for Covid 19 to stay out of Kenya, if prayers work. Preach the practical things that people need to do to avoid spreading the virus. Pray after that.

  7. This is a mockery of…
This is a mockery of Almighty God, wow!
Uhuru was all along allowing Chinese airlines to land @ JKIA until hero Ali Gire blew the whistle! And until Wednesday last week an Italian airline was doing the same! This is extremely fucked up, excuse my French
Uhuru’s an extremely incompetent president wannabe, gimme a break!

    • Kumbe all this time I spoke…
Kumbe all this time I spoke French fluently?. I’m like a native speaker. After covid is done I must visit France.

  8. If you believe in imaginary…
If you believe in imaginary beings maybe this was an answer to a prayer for better hospitals since now all politicians get to stay in Kenyan hospitals. This should serve as motivation to fix the damn hospitals and not look to foreign countries for answers.

  9. New times are on the horizon…
New times are on the horizon and God is on our side “Let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. We are living at an interesting time when the world is being re-newed!!

  10. Any Kenya thinking out there…
Any Kenya thinking out there thinking that they have a president and functioning government is purely insane and retard. President Uhuru is incompetent, drunk and 100% out of touch with reality. How is prayer going to help? Its a colonized old mind, unscientific and moronic!
How about the gova encourage its citizens to follow the medical and isolation procedures! Pray after the corona (Covid19) is gone!
