Kenyan Man Charged with Hacking into Family Bank Systems

Kenyan Man Charged with Hacking into Family Bank Systems

A Kenyan man was on Thursday arraigned in a Nairobi court for allegedly hacking into Family Bank systems.

Geoffrey Oduor Ojow alias Jojo Odukuzi alias Jeff Mzee was arraigned before Milimani Law Courts Magistrate Zainab Abdul to face cyber-crime charges.

Oduor was accused of illegally gaining access to Family Bank’s systems and attempting to steal from the lender.

The court was told that the accused unlawfully remotely gained access to Family Bank Limited networks systems, thereby infringing their information security measures. He is alleged to have committed the crime on diverse dates between November 1st, 2018 and January 20th, 2019.

He was charged with unauthorized access to computer data contrary to the law and intent to commit an offense of stealing from the said bank.

Magistrate Zainab released him on a cash bail of Sh300,000 with an alternative bond of Sh500,000 after he denied the charges leveled against him.

The case will be heard on September 26th, 2019.
