KHN Appeals for Funds to Build Sh230 Million Cancer Patients’ Hostel

Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) is appealing for funds from Kenyans to help it build a multi-million-shilling accommodation facility for cancer patients.

KNH called on Kenyans of goodwill to help it raise Sh230 million required to construct the hostel that will be used to accommodate cancer patients seeking outpatient services.

The three-storey accommodation facility will have a capacity of 140 beds, a day respite area, a cancer resource center, and a restaurant among other features.

“It is in this regard that KNH is calling upon all people of goodwill to own and support this project by contributing via MPESA Paybill No – 474444, KNH Hope Hostel. A little will go a long way. Let us come together and Give hope home in Kenya,” KNH said on its social media pages.

KNH said Hope Hostel will offer short-term accommodation to cancer patients seeking outpatient treatment to enable them have repeated checkups without much struggle. It will also help cancer patients who are referred from other hospitals that are far away from Nairobi.

Some patients are currently forced to spend nights in the corridors of KNH to enable them to wake up early to queue for treatment.

Some Kenyans on social media have raised questions over why the government cannot fund the construction of the hostel given that universal healthcare is one of its priority programs.

The same KNH that has been denying pts treatments due to lack of money? Kenya can afford healthcare for the impoverished if it wasn’t rooted in deep corruption!
