A 44-year-old Kenyan man who was announced as the winner of $1 million (Sh100 million) in a Dubai lottery on Tuesday has been found.
Paul Wachira won the amount after his ticket number 2162 in Series 302 was drawn. Organizers of the Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire Promotion initially could not reach him.
Gulf News reports that the lucky man, who is in Nairobi, finally read the several emails sent to him by organizers of the lottery.
“Frantic calls to his number kept failing. Email and a reminder email finally caught the attention of the winner who had no clue until when he opened his mailbox, to find he had won a jackpot,” the outlet said.
Wachira said he has been a regular participant of the lottery and had purchased the winning ticket online on May 22nd.
“Thank you Dubai Duty-Free for this blessing. I am happy to win Sh100 million,” Wachira told Gulf News.
Draws of the lottery are carried out at the Dubai Duty-Free shopping complex after every two to three weeks.
