Nairobi Woman Rep. Esther Passaris Faces Eviction from Sh300 Million Kitisiru Home

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris is facing eviction from a multi-million-shilling house in Nairobi.

The Standard reports that Ms. Passaris is embroiled in a court battle with the widow of the late Kenyan billionaire Kultar Singh Hanspal over the property valued at Sh300 million.

In court documents, Ms. Alka Roshanlal Hanspal accuses Passaris of forcefully taking the mansion located in Nairobi’s Kitisuru estate. Passaris has reportedly lived in the house for the past 13 years.

Ms. Alka says she sold the property that stands on a two-and-a-half-acre to a person identified as Charles Kanyuga Maina and his wife Grace Wanjiku Kanyuga.

The case was set for hearing on July 22nd this year but Passaris requested for a new date due to her busy schedule.

In her defense, the politician says she rented the house in 2006 from Mr. Kultar and later bought it from him in 2009 for Sh35 million.

Court papers show there was a clause in the tenancy agreement lease allowing her to purchase the property.

However, Alka says the agreement was nullified after her husband cited that she had no right of attorney over the property.

She adds that she was under pressure when she signed the agreement since her husband was ailing and her family was facing financial problems.

Alka claims that Passaris did not purchase the property and that she took advantage of her when her husband was ill.

“Kultar Singh entered into a tenancy agreement with the plaintiff (Passaris) commencing October 1, 2007, for two years, by which the plaintiff was in possession of the suit property as a tenant of which she has been paying rent to the third defendant (Alka) but not as a purchaser.”

“Passaris took advantage of the situation I was facing,” Alka notes court documents.

Passaris could be evicted from the property should the court rule in favor of the complainant.
