The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji will this weekend lead a delegation of Kenyan prosecutors and top detectives to the United States.
During the trip, the Kenyan team will seek President Trump administration’s help in the war against corruption, drug, and human trafficking, as well as money laundering.
The Standard reports that Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti will be part of the delegation.
The visit to the US follows similar trips to Jersey and the United Kingdom as the DPP and DCI continue to seek international assistance to bust corrupt networks and recover looted cash stashed abroad.
During the three-day visit, Haji and Kinoti will hold a series of meetings with the US Attorney-General William Barr and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) director, Christopher Wray among others.
“We will be discussing many issues including graft. You know the FBI is under AG’s office in the US and we are scheduled to meet top detectives there to share various issues,” said Haji.
Also in the delegation are officials from Kenya’s Assets Recovery Agency (ARA).

We are so tired of seeing these types of trips that do not bear any results. Please Mr. DPP make this trip worthwhile otherwise your trip here would just be part of the problem. Ask Mr. Trump to lobby his European teams to do the following:
1 Freeze all accounts of anyone associated with graft
2. Ban them from traveling to US, EU, Australia, Canada etc. for any reason including family education and medical trips (they need to build better hospitals and schools in Kenya)
3. Stop all funding including borrowing, Aid, NGOs etc. until there’s a credible legislation passed to promote transparency, prevent impunity, ban harambees etc.
4. Make sure no family member is in western world for any reason including education or medical. Any immediate family member of anyone associated with corruption who is currently in any western country should be deported until Kenyan government put things in order.
5. The ban should be extended to members of the Judiciary including Chief Justice since they are also applying selective justice – only poor people are in jail due to stiff penalty while corrupt/rich are arrogantly roaming around even governors known to be murderers.

I doubt if this is going to yield any fruit. Graft/looted resource in Africa and stashed in western countries is what’s keeping western engine running smoothly.

Thank you@sukuma, dead on arrival indeed! AG William Barr cannot even figure out the truth about Muller report. He has contempt of Congress subpoena and is somehow going to help the Kenyan team? Like @Sukuma has eloquently put it; what we need is a Kenyan solution to Kenya’s corruption problems. Think about it, there is not a single big fish corrupt goon languishing in prison in Kenya today. We’ve done nothing. This mentality of the need to have the western corrupt nation’s save us from ourselves is a serious weakness that needs to stop pronto.

Fight corruption any way you can. I believe foreign governments can play a very important part when it comes to all these thieves stealing millions with no repercussions. Their visas and passports should be cancelled. Any money looted and stashed abroad should be frozen. Their names and holdings ought to be published for all to see. Wananchi should demand action now not twenty years from now.

Having said that, trashing your heritage is not the solution and ranting without putting any idea for solution on the table is part of the problem.
