A Chinese company has left residents of Katikit location in Baringo County excited after donating several cartons of alcohol to starving locals.
Chuanshan International Mining Company also donated food items including 300 bags of maize and cooking oil to the residents, who are grappling with severe hunger as a result of a drought.
Locals cheered and clapped after the company’s staff announced that beer was part of the donation.
Chuanshan International director Han Ke says their decision to donate alcohol was because members of the Pokot community “love liquor.”
“Locals in this area love liquor and I saw it fit to include it as part of food donation to the hunger-ravaged villages,” says Ke adding that they wanted to “simplify life” for residents.
The company is scheduled to start mining diatomite at Katikit in Tiaty Constituency.
Area MP William Kamket was present during the donation.
The honorable MP should be…
The honorable MP should be making sure Govt aid gets to his people. All he wants is to be seen and take what comes in easily. Please work for your people and get them the Govt aid they deserve. When shall we start working and
demanding service to our people.
This “Alcoholic food” thing…
This “Alcoholic food” thing is How the Vikings (American land Occupiers) fooled Indian Americans to take their Land. And this is Why the Natives of America are so Addicts, and Confined in “Indian Reservations” as Whites ravage their Land and Oil reserves. Talking of OIL reserves!?
Oh that headline is…
Oh that headline is misleading – I thought Alcohol was the main donation – I was going wtf!

MATUSI KWA WANANCHI! POMBE! VIONGOZI WA KENYA WAKO WAPI KUKUBALI MATUSI KAMA HAYA KUFANYIWA MASKINI WANAOKUFA KWA NJAA! HESHIMA IKO WAPI? JAMENI TUMEKWISHA!
I do not blame the people…
I do not blame the people for being happy. I blame the leaders who squandered the dams money and can NOT even spare their pocket change to help their constituents. Moi, Ruto, area governor, mp etc. All useless people. This is a shame. Chinese gave two cents worth of stuff as they get ready to exploit our natural resources. Our leaders are sell outs.
Mzee mkristo Ndugu Toroitich…
Mzee mkristo Ndugu Toroitich Arap Moi yuko wapi?
Hivi majuzi mkristo Ruto aliwaambia watu wake waanze kupanda miparachichi (avocado trees) ili wawauzie Wachina maparachichi (acocadoes). Huwezi kula maparachichi wakati unaposikia njaa!
I am glad that these people…
I am glad that these people have been given a meal (not sure alcohol is important here but you take what you are given if you are begging). On the the other hand, we Africans have no shame ( I am talking about our leadership at local and top levels if we can stand to receive aid for food half a century plus after attaining self rule. Blame also goes partly to the community itself and the people for not adapting to changing times or climate, or whatever is challenging your survival. This goes to other Kenyan regions as well. Most of us still depend completely on unpredictable rains to feed ourselves. We are always one season of drought away from starvation as a nation. You see it every time the rains delay. Our silos are empty. Even after a bump harvest, we squander and don’t store for tomorrow.
I once saw an American kid talk on TV how he was going to Africa (very annoying) to help hungry people and therefore taking coin donations for his trip. I remember thinking how arrogant the kid was but long story short, the kid got enough money, travelled to some remote village and used the funds to dig a well/borehole that is still there today, and that community sure appreciates it. This is damning for us Africans, that a simple solution like this is there but our government wont foster it, but neither will we as individuals. I recall we used to raise money in the 90s to take a relative abroad and got about 1million shillings, however, I know lots of places where there is no running water and nobody even fund-raises to build a community drinking water system. Those days, with 1-5 million, I believe a borehole could have been dug and even piped the water to a few homes. Even Kenyans abroad have this ill because since a few people come together and raise $20000 to take a body home but I rarely see the same spirit if it were something that will have a lasting legacy. Maybe we will be shamed into action.
Sure yes. For one, beer is…
Sure yes. For one, beer is food from cereals, hops, yeast and other ingredients in it. Additionally, the donors offered the food-food for the family. These folks understand that this community like beer and the food donations would have been channeled to beer dens or would have been sold for beer. Possibly too, the maize would have been turned into busaa at home. The excitement from beer eased their hopelessness;and at least the majority of the food got home where the mothers take charge and the kids likely got fed. Even the hungry deserve “good” things of this life beer included. In fact the bible goes even further to say ” 6 Alcohol is for people who are dying, for those who are in misery. 7 Let them drink and forget their poverty and unhappiness.”
So next time you feed a hungry man/woman, remember to indulge them in your largest cup of….
This is not new. The British…
This is not new. The British used githeri and beads to entice both Masai and Kikuyu communities in exchange of land. Giving people what they want is a thousand year old tactic used by many colonialists. As you all know the Chinese are the Kenya’s new colonial masters and are doing what others have always done in history-entice first and “thou shall be given what your heart desires”. It is not a secret Kenyans loves beer and love it all the way from No. 1 to the last number in Pokot community. It’s no wonder a keen observation of an official Kenyan delegation arriving back from an official Beijing trip always seem to walk staggering. And just as in case of Masai’s and Kikuyu’s beads and githeri story the future of Kenya is been mortgaged with things like beer, SGR, Thika-Nairobi super highways and few other short sighted goodies
I see nothing wrong here…
I see nothing wrong here. What’s wrong if hungry people enjoy a bottle or two to go down with the relief stuff? Sometimes we like creating mountains out of mole hills. And how do these Chinese manage to their 2 billion people? Food for thought.

It’s Baringo.
There leaders are sewage.
We want secession.
Chinese are providing food…
Chinese are providing food to starving Kenyans while the government is giving them a Huduma Number. What good are numbers when hapless Kenyans have no food, water, or medicine. Talk about misplaced priorities. No wonder a famous Kenyan scholar observed that recolonization may be a better option for Africa.
