Mt. Kenya leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have dismissed Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria’s 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking in Nyeri during the second death anniversary of the late Governor Nderitu Gachagua, the leaders have termed Kuria as a joker who can’t be taken seriously.
Led by Kiambu Governor Ferdinard Waititu, Woman Representatives Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia) and Purity Ngirici (Kirinyaga), the leaders say Central Kenya region will not front any presidential candidate until after 2032 when DP Ruto leaves office.
They say the region remains solidly behind Ruto’s bid to succeed President Kenyatta in 2022 and urged residents to ignore Kuria.
Speaking at the same function, MP Kuria has told off the leaders saying: “I’m not vying in your house, so keep-off.”
DP Ruto, who was in attendance, has avoided the debate and urged leaders to focus on implementing the Big Four Agenda.
“We do not want to go back to our terrible political past where we had hatred and tribalism. I give my commitment that we will transform the country by focusing on development and I urge all leaders to follow this path,” Ruto says.
