The explosion, which occurred at the intersection of Latema Road and Tom Mboya Street near Odeon Cinema, left two people injured.
The suspect is said to have hired the services of a cart-puller to carry an unidentified package across the city.
He walked alongside the cat-puller up to the junction between Latema road and Tom Mboya Street where he reportedly claimed to have forgotten his ID card at a shop across the street and excused himself to go back pick it.
However, the package carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) went off moments later hurting the cart-puller on the arm and injuring a newspaper vendor on the foot.
